I was at the Manchester show too. I thought it had the best sound quality of all the gigs I been to so far, but still not great. I had another great time but it's true a lot if people were confused. At other venues I thought the sound maybe masked the intricacies of the remixes but not so this time. Those of us on this forum have heard these versions for months on you tube and I am still noticing extra bits that make me smile. This is not simple music by a long stretch. However most people are not so diehard. The issue may be that they are so different from the originals if you put yourself in the position of someone who is hearing the remixes for the first time with added sound issues it may just be too much of a leap. I also think there is an element of her finding a new fan base. Some will leave and some will stay and new ones may come too but as her live shows are really the only exposure most have to her style that process is happening at the shows. I love the remixes. I wish she would do a live album compiled from every tour because these versions are no doubt soon to be retired and replaced with new ones It takes a while to adjust to her voice as well - i remember the first time I saw the video of the cochella performance - I loved the music but thought her voice sounded rough but I could not stop listening. Now I love her voice in all conditions but it took a while. The western method of presenting music is based virtually entirely around commerciall interests which work best then things are cut into nice discrete chunks and simple to appeal to the widest audience. I like the opposite lol.

I really enjoyed the show last night, Unplugged section cut down to three songs and clean heart / clean hands section removed from Final Hour. Paris clearly had affinity for the Fugees material Fingers crossed Guarding the Gates / Dambable Herresies make a return to the line up before the ended the tour Those two songs have been my favourites of this tour so far. I guess a show can only be so long. I really enjoyed all the arrangements so much I hope there will be many more tours to come.

This image immediately disturbed me. But it does make you think. The image of Lauryn offended me, I thought what have you done to yourself. The image of Nikki had hardly any effect until I saw them both side by side. I began to think why. Is it the shock of seeing someone portraying an image contrary to what i would expect or the fact I had become numb to that same image presented by someone I would expect it of. It's the same degrading image after all

I thought she dealt with it quite well - It reminds me of when Nina Simone commanded the naughty audience member to "sit down" at the MJF. Am not really bothered by a late start as long as the venue dues not gave a curfew

Thanks to everyone that particated in this thread I love that so many people each have their favourites and they are virtually all different one thing Lauryn Hill fans seem to have in common is a remarkable ability to tolerate bad sound quality lol ! Much appreciation to all the people who took the time record these performances and all if you who posted - The lost ones thread is up now

lol - I still have my old VHS from when Unplugged aired on MTV in the UK - Me and my housemate at the time immediately fell for Peace of Mind We had both never seen anything so personal on MTV before and to be honest I have never seen anything like it since ! It makes me a little sad sometimes when people say Lauryn threw away get career at that point. To me all the hardwork previous to that moment bought her the freedom to record that session and more importantly ensure it's broadcast I still find relevance in that set over ten years later. Which ever executive pressed the green light to air unplugged deserves a medal too I can't envisage a similar situation occurring again, no one is brave enough lol - can you imagine Beyoncé announcing an unplugged session and turning in something like that ? People also say Lauryn needs to sugar the pill a little to get her message across more effectively - the way I see it she did that already, her whole career upto unplugged was the sugar, then unplugged dropped the pill maybe the best way to reach the most people is not to dilute your message but allow it be an affirmation for those who feel similar to you. Then those people will reach the people, all that is forgone is the more immediate gratification of feeling you have made a direct impact en masse early morning rambly post
