A shame she booked so many shows in the UK and from the sound of it they don't even like her there? Also she looks to be wrapping up her tour there amidst all their negativity and tabloid-like media.
It's unfortunate because she had done a good job pr wise with most of these shows.

Im from the UK and went to the first Brixton London gig and I loved it. Im seeing her again on Sunday at the Brooklyn Bowl intimate gig and going to meet her after and cant wait and im sure I will love this show too. It makes me so sad that the media and so called fans have said bad things about her. It makes me worry that she will not come back here again. If these people were true fans they would know that she remixs her songs. Its strange that when she did London 2012 that the media and everyone loved the show. She remixed her songs then!!!! I saw her then and loved the show and loved the show this time round. I found this time round that her voice sounded even better than 2012. Dont people check up on past shows before they book tickets? Also I cant believe people booed her at Manchester (according to the tweets) very sad. There was no need to do that!!! Yes the didnt come out till 10 but she still put on a great show. After seeing her with the Fugees in 1997 London Wemberly, Miseducation tour 1999 London Wemberly, Indigo 02 London 2012 and Brixton 2014. All I can say is everythime she has put on a show. This sunday should be no differnt and so happy that I will finally her. #truefan I hope Lauryn knows that there are lots in the UK that still support her and love her shows. When I meet her Sunday im going to make sure I tell her this.

Honestly I was shocked when I read reviews from the first brixton who. Yes pleople got slightly inpatient that she was late and the DJ even got annoyed I think. But when she came on stage she gave her all and the people accepted her and embraced her style. Most of he standing section was up and dancing to many songs. I was at her 2007 show and that was a disaster. It was a bad time for her. And the literally I watched probably half the audience walk out. But didn't see anyone leave at this show! I genuinely expected to see great reviews on Sunday morning and was horrified with who I read! And it was all based on people's tweets, half of which were written before she even came on! And calling it a UK tour is f**k**g ridiculous! It's part of a late world tour which has been going on for nearly a year!! I'm hoping an guessing the audience at Manchester didn't actually boo her when she was on stage. Wish I could go again this weekend the woman is a genius and if people don't like what she's doing then that's fine with her, they can move on

Why were they booing this time around? Was she late? Was it in response to the remixes? Were they booing while she was performing? Lol so many questions.
Some people are proper trouble-makers though. Surely they would've read what went down in Brixton but still they went there expecting to see 90s Lauryn? Doesn't make sense. Starting to believe these people are planted to cause chaos lol

A friend who attended the show says a section of the crowd started booing mid-performance and Lauryn stopped and asked "whats your problem?" Lol got to love her though. Main issue for the crowd was the unrecognisable remixes. They want to enjoy their classics as they are. Apparently it was plain sailing once she hit unplugged and Fugees segment.
Do you think Lauryn's idea of heavy-handed remixing is misplaced? Its been 4 years and people are still not getting it.

Self indulgent is probably a better word. lol I think it's safe to say most fans would prefer to hear the songs they know and love with a fresh live vocal. But she's said she's tired of singing the same songs over and over. The real solution to that is to put out new music. She could add creative touches here and there without changing the entire song. Is it true what some are saying that she doesn't own her songs anymore? How would that even happen?
As for these people at the UK shows, it reminds me of when Whitney Houston performed there on her last tour. It was well documented that her voice was screwed, but there were all of these people in the UK that seemed to buy tickets simply to complain and rag on her. The tabloids had a field day and even set up cameras outside the venue and asked people to bash her on camera. lol It was ridiculous. Same thing here.
How much of a fan can you be if you haven't gotten the memo that Lauryn does remixes and shows up late? These people apparently have not so much as googled "Lauryn Hill" in the past 8 years. lol
Sorry for the actual fans there who have to try and enjoy a show amidst this crowd, but if she didn't go back I wouldn't blame her.
eta: for me personally, Ex Factor and Killing Me Softly are the only remixes that I don't care for. Maybe add the hyped up Ready or Not to the list. I prefer it mellow.

Hi i dint get to the concert till about 9 as knew she wouldnt be out till later and the place was really buzzing then the dj stopped about 9 15 ish and then nothing till 10 but by this time people were booing alot. the set list was pretty much the same as the other shows. she started with soul rebel which i was really looking forward to but the sound quality wasnt great - was hard to hear her. she then did everything is everything which i must say was really good - better than i expected - loved the arangment! then final hour which again the sound wasnt great, then zion lost ones exfactor and black rage she then left the stage and people where booing maybe like 10% of the people there, she came back with her guitar and asked what the problem was, she asked that people with a problem raise there hands and she talked with 1 of them, he complained he couldnt hear her properly and she asked the sound guy to work his magic - and must say from that point on the show improved soo much!!! from that point on it was a really good show she did mr intentinal abit of adam lives in theory, i get out and turn ur lights down low then fugee set then bob marley bang bang and doo wop i think if she hadnt of left such a big gap beteen the dj finishing and her coming on stage it would be so much better as the crowd was so flat for the 1st part of the show - i just think they shouldnt open the doors at 7 if she isnt coming on till 10 - i personally knew this but alot didnt but i also dont think the brixton review helped - i over heard alot talking about it before she started. overall i had a great night its the 6th time ive seen her my only down point is i wish she wouldnt mess with exfactor as much - watching on youtube i loved the remix but i wasnt as keen last night maybe that was down to the crowds negitivity - it was juts to rushed and lacked the soul about it but apart from that and some sound issues it was great oh and she looked amazing! sorry only had 4 hours sleep last night so a very rushed review!

I think she was genuinely perplexed by the negativity. It's like she really was trying to understand why people were upset, she doesn't seem angry at all. I hope these negative reviews don't discourage her from releasing future material.

I hope these negative reviews don't discourage her from releasing future material. Much respect to her, she definitely knows how to handle a crowd. Most artists would have been intimidated in that moment. Also I do hope that someone in her team is taking note of the grievances from fans and providing her with proper feedback. She's probably not even aware of the blacklash from the Brixton show. Her tour manager needs to do their job.

Saw the gay nonsense on some silly fakish Lauryn Hill facebook page. I just realise everyday that people who hate on Lauryn are the ones with problems not her. She is very mature and not easily intimidated by crowds, I really do not like this at all I don't even understand why people feel the need to make her look bad it's seriously malicious. What joy do people get from doing this to her and silly journalists writing articles based on twitter rants it's very unethical.

I was at the Manchester show too. I thought it had the best sound quality of all the gigs I been to so far, but still not great. I had another great time but it's true a lot if people were confused. At other venues I thought the sound maybe masked the intricacies of the remixes but not so this time. Those of us on this forum have heard these versions for months on you tube and I am still noticing extra bits that make me smile. This is not simple music by a long stretch. However most people are not so diehard. The issue may be that they are so different from the originals if you put yourself in the position of someone who is hearing the remixes for the first time with added sound issues it may just be too much of a leap. I also think there is an element of her finding a new fan base. Some will leave and some will stay and new ones may come too but as her live shows are really the only exposure most have to her style that process is happening at the shows. I love the remixes. I wish she would do a live album compiled from every tour because these versions are no doubt soon to be retired and replaced with new ones It takes a while to adjust to her voice as well - i remember the first time I saw the video of the cochella performance - I loved the music but thought her voice sounded rough but I could not stop listening. Now I love her voice in all conditions but it took a while. The western method of presenting music is based virtually entirely around commerciall interests which work best then things are cut into nice discrete chunks and simple to appeal to the widest audience. I like the opposite lol.
