I think the chorus of this song is a sample of a 1979 song called "Instant Hit" by The Slits

I love it!!!!! I can't believe she even raps better than she used to. i haven't really digested the lyrics in their entirety but her technique has reached new levels of sophistication! I was actually listening her verse on "wanna be where you are" (we entered in hip hop/ we were young gifted and boundless" and thinking it was one if her best of all time. i feel a similar energy and musicality here. I'm so happy right now

This woman is on fire. She is so unpredictable. You never know what sound she is going to come with This sounds like nothing that is out And lyrically, she is just on another level I can't wait till she officially comes back

lol I don't even know what to say. Lauryn must not gof about music anymore. She should just release a book of literary works. What she's saying may be good, but the music isn't. imo It's too chaotic to be enjoyable. No groove. It's just her going off over a lot of noise. lol I realize it is most likely intentional(because nobody accidentally makes a song that crazy) and the noise is probably suppose to be some kind of "artistic expression", but I don't get the point. Why has she abandoned the concept of putting her message to music people can groove to?
I don't get it and I can't listen to this song nor Neurotic Society. Both songs I'd rather just read the words to than to ever hear them again.

Jena: i understand your point and i must admit that i didnt really like Neurotic society because i felt there was too much going on lyrically, it's like she was just listing à bunch of words. But even though the same critique could be made about this one, i like it, esp because of the delivery which i find amazing and the production that is quite unique. And she is back to rapping!!! I think it's too early to judge what's the new album will sound like based on these two joints. She is an artist not merely a singer or a rapper anymore, she is going to try new things and hopefully invite us to her journey. I am grateful for these songs because I remember a time when I thought she would never release new music again. And if we can safely assume that she does not intend to focus on the "groove" like she used to, i don't think these songs represent her new sound. I think these pieces are her introduction to her ideas. And something tells me the next album will sound like a mix of all her works since the fugees days. I am so curious to hear what's next!
