She does sound really young. I'm in awe of her lyrical ability; "Manifest" is excellent. I think I watch her performance of that, at the end of "Ex-Factor" in Japan, a least once a day. Which is exactly why I love her so much. who else can rap and sing their verse like that? She really revolutionized rap with that and then took it two steps forward with Freedom Time. Rapping and Singing seamlessly.

I don't think she's ever spit a wack verse. "Maxine" has a nice vibe--R.I.P Heavy D

Umm, not sure how I feel about this one What do you mean? Ahhh , a whole song dedicated to marijuana, lol, really? I've never heard the song before, and I'm not sure where to go with this one without appearing judgmental. I do understand that this particular concert was a tribute to Bob Marley, and it was "420" day, but I would love to know Lauryn's thought process as it relates to why she chose to sing that song. I mean, she didn't have to; it's her show. She was in charge of song selection. There's a difference, I think, between mentioning marijuana in a song and glorifying it with a song--if that makes sense. This one is a head scratcher for me

This one is a head scratcher for me Well, it's a part of the Rastafarian culture. They don't believe that it's harmful and negative. Just like anything, it has to be used in moderation and responsibly. I think they believe that it opens the mind to things that you wouldn't see when you're sober. (I'm paraphrasing). Remember that Bob Marley was a big marijuana user. I don't know if she still does, but Lauryn also smoked a bit back in the day.

Whats the big deal here? Everyone knows Lauryn smoked weed back in the day... Agree with you.... Check the vid' of the fugees era.... In 2005 in Geneva, during the fugees show, wyclef asked " Is there marijuana smokers here???" Then he sang "I was back in my hotel smoking on a spliff" etc... etc... Maybe she doesn't speak about it publicly but Wyclef do it ... They were very close, so it's easy to imagine that they used to smoke .... Check the intro of "blunted interlude" [Intro] [inhales, then coughs] Ay, nigga pass me the blunt (Go get the f**k outta here, oh shit) [inhales and coughing continues] Ay, pass this over here man, so we can just cipher youknowI'msayin'? (Cip, yo, this is for dolo son [inhales] Yo, man, c'mon pass the blunt man (Yo champ, champ, champ) Yo, pass the blunt man (hold it man) Whassup man? (Yo, hold it up, aight, take the fuckin' blunt) Yeah, whassup? (Damn) [inhales continue] I ain't even get charged yet (C'mon man, let's cip man about the good ol' days man youknowI'msayin'? (yeah) See man, white man tryin' to keep this away from us man youknowI'msayin'? (Uh-hmm) Cause they know when you grab this man you just be ciphin' knowledge man, knowledge as we buildin' up man That's why they want no brothers to be out here man, youknowI'msayin'? That's why they try to make it illegal man (...you far, you far from reality...) Yo, check this out man, this is, a natural herb man youknowI'msayin'? It makes your body just and your mind just go to another...

Remember that Bob Marley was a big marijuana user. I don't know if she still does, but Lauryn also smoked a bit back in the day. Oh, heck yeah I know that Marley and all his clan are big marijuana users. In fact, I am surprised that "marley" is not a slang word for marijuana. I also know that Ziggy created a comic book character called "Marijuanaman." Why? Ummm, not sure I'm interested enough to find out . And I know it's a part of the Rasta culture. Furthermore, I know that Lauryn smoked weed. So there's no big deal here as far as the "knows" of the issue. However, I'm not concerned about the Marleys, Lauryn is not a Rasta, and this is not back in the day--it's 2011. I have always wondered what her present day views are on this issue, especially as a mother--because the bottom line is, it's still a drug.
