Whats the big deal here? Everyone knows Lauryn smoked weed back in the day... Agree with you.... Check the vid' of the fugees era.... In 2005 in Geneva, during the fugees show, wyclef asked " Is there marijuana smokers here???" Then he sang "I was back in my hotel smoking on a spliff" etc... etc... Maybe she doesn't speak about it publicly but Wyclef do it ... They were very close, so it's easy to imagine that they used to smoke .... Check the intro of "blunted interlude" [Intro] [inhales, then coughs] Ay, nigga pass me the blunt (Go get the f**k outta here, oh shit) [inhales and coughing continues] Ay, pass this over here man, so we can just cipher youknowI'msayin'? (Cip, yo, this is for dolo son [inhales] Yo, man, c'mon pass the blunt man (Yo champ, champ, champ) Yo, pass the blunt man (hold it man) Whassup man? (Yo, hold it up, aight, take the fuckin' blunt) Yeah, whassup? (Damn) [inhales continue] I ain't even get charged yet (C'mon man, let's cip man about the good ol' days man youknowI'msayin'? (yeah) See man, white man tryin' to keep this away from us man youknowI'msayin'? (Uh-hmm) Cause they know when you grab this man you just be ciphin' knowledge man, knowledge as we buildin' up man That's why they want no brothers to be out here man, youknowI'msayin'? That's why they try to make it illegal man (...you far, you far from reality...) Yo, check this out man, this is, a natural herb man youknowI'msayin'? It makes your body just and your mind just go to another...So, because Wyclef smoked, and was close with Lauryn, means that Lauryn must have smoked too? I have plenty of friends that smoke weed, who I spend a lot of time with on a daily basis, and I have never smoked a blunt. But based on your reasoning, because I associate very closely with them, it's easy to imagine that I smoke, and therefore one can say for certain that I do. Can you provide real proof that LAURYN smoked back in the day? I want to know for certain. Yeah, Clef and Pras evidently did, and we know this because we have their word on it. But if all you're using is their word, then why not apply the same yardstick to Lauryn. She said in this interview that she never smoked a blunt before (2:58). "No stress if you don't smoke sess, less." (Ready Or Not)

Really, if she smoked or not, I don't care.... I think she did it... Maybe after this interview But this doesn't change anything about how I see her... Because I smoke, I know my limits and there's no big deal about smoking weed....

Because I smoke, I know my limits and there's no big deal about smoking weed.... I'm sure you don't care if you smoke, too Look, I'm not trying to debate the rights or wrongs of smoking "kaya." I have my own beliefs about that, but adults do what adults do. In critiquing the song that was posted, the issue I have with it is, first of all, it's hella goofy . I mean, who sings "I got to have kaya now?" Seriously, that's just as silly as saying "I got to have food now" or "I got to have sex now." Secondly, I heard many people on this board say that Lauryn doesn't do anything randomly, there is a thought process involved in everything that she does. And I thought about that when I heard her singing the song. I was like, "Wth? Why is she singing that?" That's all-- I will say no more

So, I'm currently reading Common's memoir, One Day It Will All Make Sense. I just read the section on his experiences with Ms. Hill when they collaborated on this song Retrospect For Life mymajesticpage.blogspot.com/2011/08/featuringretrospect-for-life-common.htmlFirst of all, I didn't know that she directed the video. Secondly, she gave him his first experience in acting and gave him a really quick lesson in line delivery. lol. Thirdly, he wrote a brief and interesting paragraph about him calling her to lend her an ear to talk if she needed. He really is a sweet guy. if you guys get a chance, go out and get the book. It's REALLY REALLY good. I haven't been able to put it down since I bought it. He's a wonderful writer and he's honest.

I bought the book but haven't had a chance to read it yet (midterms etc) but I can't wait to read it!! Also, I knew already that she directed video for RFL, questlove had funny story about it. common's retrospect for life.
she had this intricate video planned where me, pete, pos, dave, jeru, riq, and 10 others rap cats....were in this one cut video.
i mean she was giving direction like directors do on tv and shit
"look down ahmir....look serious........be more expressive"
shit directors NEVER say!!!
man.....
i swear 9 hours....of doing this video she directs.
and then....
we watch the ruff cut.
