This is how she does it guys....A quote from a musician that worked with her "These included percussionist Larry McDonald, who had played on several crucial Bob Marley cuts in Jamaica and had since backed up American icons from Taj Mahal to Gil-Scott Heron to Bad Brains-moves that earned him the sometime nickname of "Original Beatnik." Ben Rogerson, equally at home on the bass or guitar, was a friend of Hahn's since high school when they played in the jazz band together. Drummer Madhu Siddappa and Hahn met at a mysterious rehearsal session with Lauryn Hill, who came in, tried some songs, and wandered out. Sax ingénue Maria Eisen joined the group straight out of college." tunes.broadwayworld.com/article/Dub_Is_A_Weapon_Announce_Tour_Dates_20010101#ixzz1G3hvW5MR

Adele on Lauryn's music: "My favorite one is the Lauryn Hill one; I've got that one on CD as well," she told MTV News. "I've never been so choked up by something, and it was so refreshing — I mean, I was still very young when she did her 'Unplugged,' and when Miseducation ... came out, I was really young, but that is the most influential record of my life. It's my favorite record of all time. But I never knew anything about her, she was so elusive ... but just to see her [on 'Unplugged'], and that broken look, just her and a guitar, her banter between the songs — I felt like how I feel when I hear Etta James. I was just like, 'I totally get it. She's in my head, she's in my heart, she knows me.' "It's quite a special moment when you suddenly have that link and bond with an artist, and I finally got that with her, when I heard that," she continued. "So yeah, it was a complete joy [to do my own episode]." www.mtv.com/news/articles/1659119/adele-vh1-unplugged-performance-was-complete-joy.jhtml

Okay, let's not dip into a bit of hyperbole now. LOL. Flawless? We have to be completely truthful about the state of her voice. That recording was definitely from the Miseducation days. Her voice has matured (rich in sound and heavier than her earlier days) and her voice is smooth with a slight rasp to a heavy heavy rasp. In the Ron Isley cover, her voice almost cut out at parts. Her voice is definitely different. Compare the sound of "World is a Hustle" to "Repercussions." She doesn't even create songs the same way anymore. That's not to say that I don't enjoy the current state of her voice BUT we have to be clear that her voice is not the same as it was back then. It's a good thing. I love the rasp. It helps her get more soulful and more daring as she sings more soulful songs.

First off, the recording is pretty good quality. Those background singers are singing their behinds off. Copenhagen?? Is that when she toured with The Wailers?

Reviews of her version of Lose Myself
*Far Away” produced by Just Blaze matches Marsha’s vocals perfectly and “Lose Myself” is just flat out beautiful.
*Her remake of the Lauryn Hill track, "Lose Myself," slows the backdrop without losing the punch of the original,
*The Break-Up Song’ captures the very real moment when you confront your emotions in a situation and finally admit the ugly truth – it’s over. The same could be said of ‘Lose Myself’, penned by Lauryn Hill another highlight of the album.
*It's so hard to choose a favorite song on the album but if one has to be chosen it would be "Lose Myself". Originally written by Lauryn Hill for the 2007 children's film "Surf's Up", this song has been handcrafted to become a strong R&B song. "Lose Myself" is one of those songs where you have to work through the issues of failed love to conquer the fear of loving someone else. Rather than put someone through the hell she's experienced she soulfully sings "I had a paralyzing fear of facing failure / I couldn't love you perfectly without fear in my head". That would be love therapy for those going through similar issues.
*As with every woman who is scorned, human nature allows them take out their past frustrations on their present lovers. And tracks like the extremely emotional “Lose Myself”, written by Lauren Hill, offers a riveting tale of Marsha finding forgiveness after enduring serious heartache. Professing “there’s something awkward about the selflessness it takes to give love and the good that it makes you, true love can never really forsake you, but it took me a little while just for me to see”. The nearly five-minute experience highlights Lauren’s elaborate songwriting skills, perfectly executed by Marsha’s aggressive vocals, the chemistry that these two have together on this collaboration is un-deniable.
*Nevertheless, the seven-minute long track is contemporary R&B at its finest, which makes the interjection of her “Lose Myself” cover even more disappointing. The Lauryn Hill-penned song is an ode to learning to love oneself in order to love another, however the sluggish tempo, paired with the wistful background vocals remove the sense of urgency and command found in the lyrics. Ambrosius sounds out of place; a nod to Ms. Hill’s signature sound.
