That's right folks "Lose Myself" will be on Marsha Ambrosius (formerly Floetry) upcoming album. I just came back from her gig here in London where she was previewing songs to the album. She mentioned that it was beyond her wildest dreams that Lauryn would even agree to give her one of her songs. She played the first minute and a half much to the crowd's delight. Vocal arrangements same as Lauryn's version but with a mellow RnB feel to it.
I suspect most people in the audience didn't know that the song was released for a movie soundtrack in 2007. Personally I was hoping for a newly written song but clearly these artists will take anything where Lauryn's footprint is all over it. Now that is POWER!!

GOSH! I was also hoping for a new song but this is great news! Lose Myself also happens to be one of my favortie songs; I feel like it totally explains why she left the music biz!

Wow! That is a great news for Marsha. I think that particular song's lyrics is full of emotion, which is also evident in its title. I was hoping for a collaboration between the two artists, but i'm pretty sure Marsha will be happy with having the opportunity to showcase the song on her album. Thank you 'mbalnd' for the news!

No, this is one of my favorites. I always hoped Lauryn would sing this in a comeback appearance on TV. ;D It just seems to personal to give away.

I always hoped that Ms. Hill would re-record the song the way she did it live. She slowed the tempo down a bit and had the backup vocals help her out with the lyrics which were a bit much for the tempo. Once I heard her live version, I fell in love with the song. My problem now is everyone is going to say that Marsha did it better than Ms. Hill. We know better but we also know that a lot of people are ignorant and won't notice the fact that it's her arrangement that she allowed Marsha to record. Oh well!

I don't think that ppl will be saying Marsha did a better job. They have two different very distinct voices. Just like when Syleena Johnson covered Lauryn All Falls down on Kanye West's cover. I seldom heard ppl compare it to Lauryn. I think if there is a problem to discuss it'll be how many ppl actually know that this is a Lauryn Hill original. Although it is a great song it really flew under the radar. I only found out about Kanye West sampling Mystery of Iniquity about two years ago.

5 Must-Hear Songs on Marsha Ambrosius’ ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ It’s taken Marsha Ambrosius more than a decade since debuting with Grammy-nominated duo Floetry to put out her first solo album Late Nights & Early Mornings, but the operatically-trained singer is ready to spread her wings and soar. The English lass collaborates with an impressive cast on her debut, with production by Just Blaze (“Far Away”), Rich Harrison (“Late Nights & Early Mornings”), Dre & Vidal (“Your Hands”), and more, as well as writing credits from Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill. The romance-laden album, set to a full-bodied musical backdrop, explores the Brit’s relationship experiences ranging from behavioral remorse to innocent naiveté. Rap-Up.com presents five must-hear songs from Late Nights & Early Mornings prior to its March 1 release. “Lose Myself” Lauryn Hill wrote and recorded this as an energetic inclusion on the soundtrack to the 2007 animated feature Surf’s Up, and Marsha completely reconfigures the track to suit an R&B template. Cutting away the heavy percussion and synthesizers of Ms. Hill’s version, Marsh puts her heart into this neo-soul remake, driven by languid percussion, a light organ, and thick vocal harmonies. www.rap-up.com/2011/01/23/5-must-hear-songs-on-marsha-ambrosius-late-nights-early-mornings/

I'm not too familiar with Marsha Ambrosius' music, but I like her spin on "Lose Myself.", It sounds really soulful. Maybe I'll check out the album.

I have yet to hear the whole song, but from this preview, it seems to me that she is overdoing it, I mean, over-singing it.

Thanks a lot!! I like her take in the song but it really makes me miss Ms. Hill's voice on the song. I think Marsha may have overdone it by layering the vocals too many times. There must be over 300 tracks on that one song.
