It's funny at times it sounds like the band is playing the bass lick from "Get Money". It's cool that she's slowing down the tempo, but that current arrangement hits HARD. I can't believe she's changing up arrangements already!

Yeah, the problem with that is that is the same excuse that people use whenever she performs awesome arrangements of Miseducation songs. It's holding onto a memory, a feeling that you had when you heard the original and is not allowing the artist to grow and evolve because you want them to recreate the moment that was once in a lifetime. Listen to the album, get your fill and then catch up to where the artist is now...or don't. But it's not her fault that you're missing the amazing work that she's doing now because you want her to recreate an experience from a decade ago. I beg the difference, it isn't so much as to holding onto the same arrangement. It was the voice and heart felt expressions. However, I have a right to voice whether I like an arrangement or not because it what pleasant to my ear. Most of you who keep telling people how to adjust their hearing or with this arrogant tone or don't as if the artist is just performing for the joy of it. It about being paid for what you do and yes the buyer has a right to expect the merchandise in the manner they order it or take it back. I don't have to catch up or let some one shove something down my throat and say take it or leave it. It not that serious, it not like I can't do without it. Please stop this none-sense about get with it or don't;if the public start taking you up on this and prices drop, I guarantee you Pride and genius will get with the program; you as good as the people who pay for what you do. that was nice won't pay bills and we all have them!!! Don't get it twisted, both of us must get something out of this in order for it to be entertainment. keep it real bruh! I believe that's the intention over all. The intention is that whoever likes the music as is will stick around and enjoy it and those who don't can willfully leave. It's not about always appeasing someone's every want. You can call it arrogance if you wish, but it's the truth. That's exactly why she's performing in smaller venues. Those who care for the material will be drawn to her current passion for the music. It's not like the material is shoddily thrown together. It has passion and intention. Some will feel it and some won't. But expecting someone to perform the material exactly how they hear it from a decade ago is not realistic for a true artist--commerce or not. I've seen many an artist kowtow to random fan's demands to perform the songs exactly as is and you see the artist grow to HATE the material and subsequently hate performing because of it. We'll just have to agree to disagree, I guess.

I'm really praying that the person who's recorded all of her DC shows was at this performance and recorded this one because she sounds SPECTACULAR!! I can't even believe that she did so many Unplugged songs. It's all I ever wanted. I really just want to hear what those songs would sound like with a full band. I'm so excited and proud of her for this amazing work. I guess I'm a little bias mainly because to have watch the video of her unplugged performance, there was something about the whole performance that had nothing to do with a band, but issues of the heart She was searching for heart issues and genuinely sincere. Her exchange with the audience was an extension, sort of "keeping it real" type of atmosphere, like she said in one of the dialogue, the real you is better than the fake someone else (something to that effect). She appeared to feel the rhythm in her soul. The ad lib with the band, in my opinion, takes away the mood of the tunes, the melodies just don't sound right to me. Then again, when you are in a different place, I guess it fair to say everything will be marching to a different beat including the voice. Hi all! I purchased it through directv and am recording it, however don't know how to transfer from my DVR to my MacBook pro. It's good, but the volume is a bit low You can back-up video from RelayTV to a Mac very easily. Use DV Archive to pull the video to the Mac. www.dvarchive.org/Use Drop DV to convert the video to a standard video format for editing. www.dropdv.com/

Did anyone record it??? It airs tonight for the first time....more details here: TV Blog Search Lauryn Hill Takes Stage for Pay-Per-View Debut by Aisha I. Jefferson | November 7, 2014 at 10:52 AM | Black Entertainment, Can't Stop Watching Lauryn Hill holding her five Grammy Awards at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in 1999. (Photo: Frank Micelotta / Getty Images) I’ve been a Lauryn Hill fan for 20 years. It began the first time I heard (and saw the video for) the “Nappy Heads” remix from The Fugees 1994 debut album “Blunted on Reality” and continued with the trio’s Grammy-winning follow up, “The Score,” and of course, with her groundbreaking, highly-lauded solo album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” Lauryn is an excellent lyricist, can rap the pants off of anyone, can sing and act! Seriously, there’s a reason why people are still talking about her influence on hip hop and music in general 16 years after she dropped her last studio album. Yes, honey, Lauryn gets a lot of love from me. And I know I’m not alone. That’s why I’ll be tuning in to watch Miss Hill do her thing during her Pay-Per-View debut Saturday at 9 p.m. ET . This concert was taped at the iconic Brooklyn Bowl in New York during her tour a few months ago. Here’s how you can watch it on XFINITY On Demand Pay-Per-View: Using your remote, go to MENU and select PAY-PER-VIEW EVENTS then scroll down to find “Lauryn Hill Live from Brooklyn” and then select RENT. It’s that easy!
I’ve seen Lauryn in concert a few times. First in 1996 when she was with The Fugees (The Roots and Goodie Mob were part of that awesome tour) and then in 2005 during The Vibe Music Festival. So you know I’m overdue for a Lauryn performance and this concert event is right on time! If talking about Lauryn has made you as nostalgic as it’s made me, no worries, I have something to hold you over until Saturday night. I’m sharing a few music videos from L.Boogie’s days with The Fugees and on her own. I’m also sharing a clip from “My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women in Hip-Hop,” BET’s documentary about female emcees who changed the game, that examines Lauryn’s influence on the genre. I think you’ll enjoy just like I’m sure you’ll love her tomorrow. Source Can anyone record it, please??

I was wondering where that came from, because–we’re about the same age–and we didn’t really grow up having music that contained a strong narrative like the folk musicians our parents grew up listening to, like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, among others. But your songs have a really strong narrative.A lot of the country music I listened to was like that, as well as artists I started to get into in my teens like Lauryn Hill. I mean, every song on her album is a story. Every song is communicating some sort of value or lesson learned, and so I was sort of mimicking the ways they wrote because I listened to that music all the time. I also wanted to be a writer as a kid, so I was always writing stories and I guess when I decided to stop writing and start doing music, I still wanted to be able to do still write stories. Journaling has always been a huge part of my life, I did social justice type articles at uni, and I wanted a way to bring it all together. So yes, I guess it is narrative based. I’d never thought of that. pigeonsandplanes.com/2014/10/being-human-is-awesome-but-it-also-sucks-banoffee-on-life-self-belief-and-lauryn-hill/
