Ah ok now i understand why it's called "The late show" ^^ So about Sony: I don't think Sony forced Lauryn to make this appearance. Indeed, in my opinion, CBS talked to Sony about a tribute to the Beatles; Sony has seen this tribute as a medium to put Lauryn in the highlights, before a release of a new song. I don't say it's pure business: it's fully possible that Ms Hill likes the Beatle. I think her musical culture is very big, bigger than Bob Marley + Stevie Wonder + Roberta Flack. Talented artists have big musical culture

The show just started. I'm praying that her voice got time to recover from the Amnesty Festival. I want her to blow the song out of the water without all the gruff on her voice.

OMG, that was beautiful I truly was not expecting that. For one, I like some of the Beatles songs, but I'm not a fan. So I only listened to "Something" yesterday when pjd4039 posted what she was going to sing. I wasn't impressed with it. For two, I'm going to be honest, Ms. Hill kind of worries me when she gets on the big stage. Sometimes her voice is not always on point, which causes people to say that she's lost it. It's not a fair assessment, but people hear what they hear. I'm happy for her; she's been consistently performing well. Bravo, Ms. Hill

It sounded like she was rushing to get out of there! lol. Maybe the "the big stage" is not where she wants to be anymore? She seemed quite awkward with David Letterman in the end when he was embracing her. Her body language just read "get me outta here". Ms Hill seems more comfortable performing at an intimate setting for her fans. I am now more convinced than ever that when she eventually drops an album, it will be "Beyonce 2.0" - release without any forewarning and go into hiding

I was a little disappointed with this performance, not with Ms. Hill but rather for her. I agree she did not seem happy to be there in contrast with the Fallon performances. She sounded sick and tired. We all know what her voice can do when fully rested and how hard she works even when it's not at full health. Most other artists would have mimed this performance in similar circumstances but not Lauryn. She is LIVE every time and that's part of why I listen Random conjecture alert: We have all heard how when singers have vocal stress they are told to rest their voices, particularly no talking, it's regarded as essential to allow recovery. However as Lauryn is both a singer and a rapper her voice is under constant stress, and that's before you factor in sickness, stress etc. In the studio you can record the vocals one week and the rap later. This is not possible live. To stay fully live and authentic, which is what Appeals to me, you have to accept the opportunity cost of a loss of execution sometimes. Check out ex factor from Copenhagen in 2007 - I believe she collapsed during this tour from exhaustion and the vocals were all over the shop but it is still one of my favourite performances. The circumstances during that tour pushed the creativity to another level. Her "bag of tricks" is larger now than ever at times she reminds me of Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn Highs are meaningless without lows Thus post may have been shorter if I lurked a little less
