I totally knew some of the reactions to the article will appear. Its obvious that a lot of people will not feel confortable with the way lauryn talks about herself nowadays. She will be quickly labled as a "diva" who thinks she is better than the rest. I believe we need to be careful with statements like that. Im not defending her - I sure dont support EVERYTHING she says regardless - BUT: She actually really experienced a lot and we can only ASSUME what makes her talk like that recently. I still think she is trying to protect herself by being extremly concious about her talent, skills and value. Doing this, she makes it impossible - or lets say - more difficult for people to take advantage of her like they used to. Regardles, you can't deny that this woman IS WISE. Acknowledging you beautiful soul - is that arrogant OR healthy? By the way, some stated earlier that she was 23 when she made it big- I demand a recount!!! SHE WAS hardly 20 when the fugees had this immense breakthrough. How capable were you with 19? I firm was you soul, your mind...? At a young age, she gave away pieces of her soul - and people didn't just borrow it, they stole it. To me, she is determined to not let that happen again... thats the reason for her actions. peace!

Ok, first of all, why are we talking about Lauryn's persoanl life. Please, this is so rediculous. Leave Lauryn's life alone. She is human if you didn't know, she does have flaws, imperfections, and lust. Those who criticize her and have all of these bad things to say about her, are obviously not reading that attentivly to her music and interviews. It's true what was said in the TRACE Mag., she doesn't blame others for her actions and mistakes. And as far as I'm concrned, Lauryn does deserve the same respect you would give a teacher. but addressing them by their last name, because in reality, her music is incredibly deep, so are her interviews. Lauryn is a true artist, because she speaks about her life, what she's been through, her philosophy, and from what's in her heart. She said in the TRACE Mag. Article, an dI quote, “If I make music now, it will be to provide information to my own children. If other people benefit from it, then so be it.” Ok, if that's not a teacher, someone sharering their knowledge so others could benefit from it, then I don't know what is. You all should just stop verbally bashing Lauryn, because you all don't know her, and don't know primarily what went down to make her the way she is. Please, let's stay out of her persoanl life and just discuss her music, and lyrics. Peace!

yeah, people should stop dissing her. It's okay to comment on the article, but not in a bashful manner.

Congrats lookingforthetruth ! Yeah, Britt, I understand the way you feel. It's really hard for fans who don't follow Lauryn as close as some of us do. We kinda know what to expect from her, so we're not TOO shocked when we read statements like the ones she makes in interviews. She's still confused, I can feel it. We need to give her time.

It didn't really give us too much info but far as Lauryn. She hit it right on the head. She's stronger but she's not alright. She is in need of love. Love is the softener. It doesn't make you vulnerable but it makes you wiser and it makes you love. When you don't recieve real love you can't truly give real love. And when you've given real love and haven't gotten it back you will choose to stop giving it. it all comes back to love. I guess i can relate to her, only i haven't become hardened, but continued to love more. That's what you do, but you love cautiously. Anyway-- can't wait for the album. *btw: www.myspace.com/jun6 <------check this out, music lovers

When you don't recieve real love you can't truly give real love. And when you've given real love and haven't gotten it back you will choose to stop giving it. I don't agree with that

I agree as well with the statement. Lauryn Hill is still and has always been in search of reciprocity- but rarely found it. Check this interview, especially the top of the righ span: img149.exs.cx/img149/7669/page45ma.gif
