thanks a lot, if it doesn't come out until the 17th how dod you get your hands on it It was posted over at www.foxboogie.com first. He/She got the issue a few days earlier because he/she subscribed to the magazine! I'm a bit dissapointed by the article because it rarely gives any new information. No information on either the state of the fugees album, nor any word about Lauryn Hills solo project... And a lot of the stuff was discussed in the TRACE magazine already. And I think the article is a bit short?!! And why isnt it a FUGEES interview like it was rumored to be in the first place?! Maybe there is another Fugee interview coming up? I do like the pictures a lot. I wonder if the clothes are actually some of Lauryn Hill's designs.

First off I'll be the first to say that Lauryn Hill is an incredible artist, but the woman as a human being clearly has some issues. She knew exactly what she was getting into when she became an artist. I am so sick of her whining all day long to every publication about the way the industry treated her. Lauryn you are a grown ass woman take responsibility for yourself. That's her problem right there, she wants people to take care of her instead of looking out for herself. She says that Fugees kept her down that the industry took advantage of her, well newsflash Lauryn you allowed them too. You were 23 years of age when the Fugees made it big, that's old enough to learn the business for yourself and negotiate your own dealings with the industry instead of taking everyone's word for something. I don't feel the least bit sorry for Lauryn as a matter of fact I think she's a disgrace to all musicians out there because she let's her ego and her sob story get in the way of what she's suppose to be doing and that's making music. Who cares that you went through a breakdown, or that you found new religious meaning, all I care about is the music, I could give two craps about her personal life. Just stick to making music and shutup. She's trying to sell her music off of the myth of "Lauryn Hill" instead of just letting her talent speak for itself. Stop the whining Lauryn. Step up and have a backbone instead of pulling these ridiculous stunts simply for publicity or attention.

I use to be a huge Lauryn Hill fan, but after reading the Trace interview and now Essence, I'm sad to say that Lauryn is nothing more than your typical egotistical, diva. She tries to portay herself as if she's some sort of GOD and everyone should be bowing down to her grateful that she's blessed us with her presence. Please....she is know more knowledgeable than the average person. "I'm wise beyond my years I'm a teacher so call me Ms. Hill" that's a bunch of garbage, was she wise when she was sleeping with Wyclef a married man, was she wise when she was having four kids by someone who was already married. Let's stop playing Lauryn up as a victim, she's done dirt to people too just like they've done to her. She's not the only person in the world who's been hurt so stop crying about it all day. Like the person said in the interview Lauryn wants people to fear her because she confuses it with respect. To put it plainly she's just an arrogant biaaat**. Nothing more nothing less!!

There is no way to give a time limit or appropriate age for someone to handle fame. Sure she was 23 and theoretically old enough to know better but some people are late bloomers to LIFE and Romance. On top of that alot of artist are so tuned into their ART and philosophy that they don't understand the BUSINESS part until they've been screwed over. And depending on their spiritual foundation, family unit, 'true' friends and business associates as well as their self esteem, will depend on how they react to those situations and how quickly they rebound from it.
And while Lauryn was going through all that as a star she was falling in love for the first time {seriously} with {I think Rohan is older?} and /or obviously more experienced in that dept than she was.... the relationship was rocky and she had 4 kids in 6.5-7 years.
that's alot of growing and maturing and deep first time experiences to conquer while being under the media microscope which doesn't help. AGE doesn't determine how mature you are or should be. You can be a creative or mental GENIUS and still be inexperienced and gullible with life & love.
Lauryn's appearance looked as if she had street smarts but honestly she didn't. and obviously she didn't have true friends or a strong family unit to help her get back on track for her to go outside of people she's normally supposed to trust to get guidance or help or some type of peace of mind.
Now one thing I will admit, she does blame people for the choices SHE made. Even if she made the choices under false intentions or if she was lied to, SHE still made them. And until she comes to terms with that, forgive those people, forgive herself, love who she is bad mistakes and all, she'll never stop blaming others to some degree. A REAL friend would've broken this down to her even if it meant their relationship would end and a REAL friend or associate wouldn't bad mouth her on a national magazine requesting that her identity be withheld.
That person must STILL be associated with Lauryn and that's sad, that means she still has backstabbing friends. But once again we wouldn't have celebrity gossip if it weren't for those shady friends & associations.

there is 1 thing in this life called UNFORSEENABLE CIRCUMSTANCES It is stupid discussing HER life, her problems and mistakes (if she really made them - nobody knows) life gives us the great experience to perceive the truth and ourselves...and we change...we grow... closer to the topic... It's interesting to read an interview with lauryn hill coz she has an interesting state of mind and she IS an interesting woman, person for many of us BUT speaking about her life and blaming her for some reasons isn't right it think but discussing problems she is speaking about in the interviews and lyrics of her song is great...coz it can't hurt us - the only think we can get from those discussions is wisdom peace

I don't think Lauryn is blaming people for her choices. She did say in the Trace article : "I cannot blame others". She looks happy from her pictures. She probably got over it. It doesn't mean she can't talk about it. I also feel like she has to grow more. But I hope her peace of mind and happiness because she truly deserves it.
