There was that Album that had a lot of buzz around 2005 that I thought was rumored to be titled Khulami Phase.
When we listen to music around then (The Passion, World is a Hustle, Damnable Heresies) we hear a very cohesive sound. Heavy drums, psychedelic chords, slow bpm & deep self reflective messages. I think it would really could have been a timeless album. To me she had found a balance between the music and the lyrics that I think she was struggling to during unplugged.
It’s a crying shame, that we never got to experience this music from a fan’s point of view. The global success of the Miseducation really became Lauryn’s biggest enemy purely from an artist’s standpoint for two reasons: the label most likely wanted that same thing again, and the expectations and pressure it placed upon her mind.
I’m sure she has a vault full of music somewhere, that we may never hear.

Yeah. She is rumored to have an entire library of unreleased music. I even remember a clip in 2016 when she was speaking to the audience during a show in California. She said that she writes and records new music all the time but she’s fighting for the creative freedom to release it. It’s such a shame because I really like the unreleased songs she’s performed such as Fearless Vampire Killer, Back and Forth, and I Had to Walk.
For a while I thought she had damaged her voice but her recent recordings such as Giarding the Gates, Damnable Heresies, and her parts on Pusha T’s Coming home are really good which gives me hope. I just hope she decides to release a body of work we haven’t heard before at some point.
