themusicsnobs.com/It's a great podcast about music that I have been following since the beginning.They have received Erykah Badu and many others. The guest of MLH episode (scroll down to nb 36) is Phonte from little brother/foreign exchange (who clearly seems to have a pb with her). Very interesting. Nothing new for this board but it's refreshing to hear real people discussing her lol

Ok, I listened to the whole thing. It's interesting listening to Phonte as he has never even sold a record in his life, Lauryn is clearly a superior artist to him. I think the problem with many is that they want Lauryn to remain in a box. Truth be told, going to a Hip-Hop show is so robotic for most acts, including Phonte. All they do is get on stage and rap to an instrumental. This is why I appreciate Lauryn's creativity, and ability to bring something new, which is often times not appreciated. I think musically Lauryn is doing what she want too. Lauryn is not stupid. She knows the fans what her to sing from whats on the album, she knows she could hop on a dope beat and sell some records. People nowadays listen to hip-hop for the beats, they don't care about the lyrical content. Nevertheless, I see a huge improvement in Lauryn concerts this year. She's opening herself up more, and she vocally better than she has been in years. I see it all as a train thats starting up again. Lauryn's in a good place, and I do believe she will prove many people wrong in the end.

I agree!!!! Phonte seriously has a PB with L.....Anyone listening with ears can clearly hear for themselves....But he's also a fan...Besides, they spent almost a whole hour discussing Lauryn and I doubt she knows who the f**k Phonte is...Lol...She would rhyme circles around him and he knows it!

The itw was about MLH musical trajectory. I have been on this forum for years now, contrary to you, I don't have a pb with dissenting opinions and debate. What are you a cyber bully? I am not sure the pb is the fact that rappers rap over beats, it has always been that way, and at some point, rappers where the most creative and innovative artists of the music industry. To me people just got lazy and lost view of the core of this culture. Apart from à few most of these kids do not seem to have any respect for hip hop...anyway I disgress. Luckily one of the guys (british one) seemed to understand what LH is about and her musical trajectory. Anyway I am hopeful, eventually people will get it. They already are |

Exactly! That's what I was thinking the whole time! He kept comparing himself to her like they're on the same level. Little Brother and Foreign exchange create subpar pseudo hip hop soul. Some of the points were valid but hé was just intentionally dissing her. Comparing her recent raps to basic corny rappers...why people act this way when they don't get something |

From what I could tell the other thread had nothing to do with lauryn's music. You don't have an issue with dissenting opinion and debate but that's all my comment was. The only negative energy I feel is from you. It isn't that serious and you seem to get out of pocket over the slightest issues. |

Phonte is just jealous. He isn't on Lauryn's level but prob wishes he could be. I honestly don't understand why Black folks always have to be pitted against each other. Divide and Conquer. Mary nothing but love, but calm down a bit.  |
