A simple question...but what makes you love this group?
I remember when i first heard "nappy heads" i was blown away...i thought it was crazy. I remember being curious about this group...then i heard the album and was dissappointed..or should i say not ready...rapping over acoustic guitar??? the album was quite dated.
Then came the Score and here's what we got: emcees! a man with a guitar singing with a reggae tinge and spitting simple yet focused flows a female that blew your mind with the raps and the songs another producer slash emcee who rounded out the combo perfectly and an album that i bought only last year.
As they went on and did they solo stuff...more so clef and lauryn i realized how important they were for hip-hop...(i just bought carnival last year too). but after hearing 911 i copped every clef album since and i absolutely loved Lauryn from the beginning and got miseducation and unplugged.
I guess you have to be ready for the Fugees to really understand and love them. They are emcees first, but they are versatile. They have so many musical weapons (a pattern obviously imitated but not duplicated). They made hip-hop okay to sing on and add instruments and stretched the boundaries. And say what you want but they have Lauryn who is in the top 5 best emcees ever. They combine to bring an explosion to the table, a formula that stands out and you can hate them or love them but that formula will keep them shining as a group or solo for a long long time.
That's why I can't wait for the new fugee album and I love "take it easy". (shoot...i might even go get "win lose or draw). Taking risks and speaking conciousness makes this group who they are. one

I wasn't into hip hop until I started listening to the fugees. As Lauryn said: the fact that they've brought "musicality" back into hip hop, made their sound truly original, because hip hop really lost it's instrumentation. Which is why fans were kinda disappointed with Take It Easy because it lacked instruments. And also, the reggae, and haitian vibe gives the fugee sound a very unique and exotic flavor, and you got the beautiful voice of Lauryn Hill. They're just great ! I hope their album will prove that once more ! p.s : ddd, I looooove you signature pic : ready or not ! lol. ;D

this is my history: the first time i heard somethig about them was in fact doo woopp from LBoogie, i dunno remmeber the year, but was a casette (tape ), i mean, long time ago... and go with my uncle and ask about that girl, who was she? what kind of music is that? (really). Then he allow me to heard the tape and i was like WOW!, this s**t sounds good, the one time he was repeating Killing me softly, and i recognice the voice... was the same girl, but this stuff sound s a little bit diferent... and he said: the name is Fugees, and they used to be so famous ( ). Then one time i was watching some cd's, and i found one specially: Wyclef Jean presents: Refugee Camp All Stars... i start to heard the material, and i went crazy, that man, since the fisrt song, trap me, and soon time later i realize that is the same guy that play in The Score with Lauryn... i tell u, all this cause here in my country they are never played in radio, most of the people don't know about them, even the one's who like hip hop (or say so)... so, i seen this guys like the exact kind of music taht i like to hear... i mean, excellent beats, guitarr, paino, gret voices, flow, carisma... they have everything, all the elements that i love in music (cause i liek to hear all kind of music, and when i say ALL it's ALL). I know that is large my explain... but my LOVE OFR THEM IS BIGGER FOSHO!!!
LONG LIVE TO THE FUGEES. ;D

Ok,it`s my turn now...My story goes like this...I got my first cd player and a couple of cd`s,that were Warren G (The very best) and Wyclef-Carnival,but unlike the others,i`ve listened to Killing me softly and Ready or not but mostly on radio and seen it on tv,BUT! after listening to Carnival i went NUTS! crazy maaan,it was such a revolution for me (crazy interludes, exellent beats etc.) so i realised that it`s time for their solo cariers and Clef was the first...then came Lauryn with extra s*it Doo Wop and i started to get deeper into the Fugees,of course after the Carnival,i got my copy of Score but almitedly i`ve never liked the Score so much.Mostly in 96/7 i listened to Clef BUT! then the song Avenues (by Pras) appeared on tv and i went CRAZY!!! This was and STILL is the best and i sad BEST song i`ve ever heard! Pras`s voice was sooo good and then i was introduced to the third member (Now i like him the most). In 1998 when the Ghetto supastar cruised down the every tv station i was full of happines,i was literarly SCREAMING every time i see that video. So this years-96/7/8 were crucial for me getting deeper into the Fugees every year, and unlike some so called fans,i was waiting all this years for them to come back and my patience approved! PEACE.

My story with the fugees : lol
I've discovered them (like a lof of people i think) with their song "killing me softlly" (a great great success in the world).I was in holidays and i have listened it to the radio or seen it on the tv, i've stopped what i did ! Like English say "love at the first sight" (anf French say : ca a été le coup de foudre ! hihi). Donc voila, i've bought their album The Score. I listened listened listened.. again and again ! But at this moment, there were Spice Girls too... lolll and i 've prefered becoming fan of the girl power ! shame on me !! lolll Anyway... but i've still follow the fugees in the same time. I've loved ready or not (especially the intro). And then, i've followed them in solo. The Miseducation of LH is veryyyyyyyy good album ! the same fot The eclftic of Wyclef Jean... So, i love them thanks to thier music. They give energy. Each time, i hear them, i jump, i sing... and now, i've seen them on stage... Wowww !!!
