OK, so I am one of Lauryn's biggest fans. However, I don't get this Miss Hill thing. What's that about? There are plenty other respected, accomplished artists out there who don't force you to address them so formally. Roberta Flack comes to mind. And many others.
Also, do you believe this crap about Lauryn not even letting workers LOOK at her, is true?? And about her showing up so late for concerts and not being gracious?? I am wondering how much of this stuff is true and how much is just people hating on her.
Lauryn has spoken out in the past about certain people not being able to accept a young, black, BEAUTIFUL, articulate and successful woman being at the top of the game. A big part of this is that Lauryn is clearly proud of her blackness. Contrast her image with Beyonce, Ciara and so many of the other black female singers who are popular. Beyonce doesn't upset people in the same way because she is conforming to the ridiculous stereotypes and she seems none too intelligent either.

I would think if female rappers can request and call themselves the baddest B*tch; I think she can rquest to be called Ms. Hill, that is her name isn't. As for the rest I have no firsthand knowledge about, so I'll leave that for others to discuss.

Well. Did u read Rohan's interview ? He seems to have no problem with calling her Ms Hill. I think it's more like a stage name. She used to be Lboogie, now she's Ms Hill ( the older and wiser woman). As far as her recent behavior is concerned, I don't have a clue. Some people say that she's the sweetest thing ever, some say that they've never seen anyone so dark and rude. So I guess the truth lies somewhere in between.LOL. Or maybe she has severe moodswings. Either way, she's still the best.

I think everyone has the right to be called the way he or she wants to be called. I have no problem with it at all! I also call her Lauryn Hill all the time as probably its just what I'm used to. but never thought that she is some kind of weirdoooo because of it. its just her. a lot of ppl do this if you think about it! one of the biggest names i think changing his name is puffy. puff daddy or whatever he's called now. i don't have a problem with it. I was called something else when i was smaller! now I'm a grown up woman and i think i need a more lets say 'wiser' name. so i kinda changed it. no problem with it. about her behavior. I was there in London last year when she had a concert. she turned up at least 90 mins later but that is the only think journalist could write about how rude this is. but i must say i don't think any of them were there as the concert was amazing. i mean i loved it. yes there was a part when she read out some poems but i think that was very special. she shared something with us that she is working on! i think we should rather feel honored! and the end of the concert was absolutely crazy (in a good way definitely). i don't think she was rude at all. but yes, i read the article also about her rude behavior and how she doesn't want ppl to look at her and that she didn't want that make up artist so the magazine had to reorganize something and get the makeup artist she wanted! it does sound weird. [glow=red,2,300]until she makes the music and touches the souls of ppl like she did before, i have nothing to complain about.[/glow]
