Wasn't it available on that website where the video of her performing "Social Drugs" was on sale too? $15 wasn't it? The site looked a bit dodgy and the poem/book was priced at $75 so I'm not surprised no one bought it.

There's also The Lauryn Hill Story by Marc Shapiro (1999) which talks about her life up to that point. Although it's unauthorised it's still a good read.
There's a bit in there about her performance at 13 at the Apollo - her parents rented a van out and took friends and family along too. Also, if you watch the youtube video again, someone shouts "Get up to the mic." apparently that's Valerie's brother-in-law.

I love it! The details are amazing. I wish she still had those lovely Nubian twists/locks.

If I attended a symposium or something of that nature, I would love to meet her. I would love to have an exchange of ideas with her. I just don't have an interest in meeting her in this setting as purely a fan. I agree with you guest21 and others on here, I have never seen her as a celebrity but if I ever did get a chance to meet her I would love to have a conversation as I feel we're on the same wavelength with so many things.

Enjoy your night there guest21! I hope you get to meet her, you deserve it for being such a loyal fan and supporter. Now hurry up Ms. Hill and announce some UK dates soon, I guess you could ask her this if possible?

Hi g21. You have me really excited with those dates but they seem to be the same days and venues she used in 2007.

Ooh, exciting. Here's a recent article of Wyclef having a heart-to-heart with the BBC, mentioning Lauryn being in the studio and recording again: www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/12182074

I've been weary of these rearrangements from the last few performances I've seen but wow! what a performance Charlotte got, I really really wish I was there. Did you notice she was actually singing and not screaming/shouting? and there was no constant band directions! All we need now is for her to turn up on time and then I'd know she is truly back.

Really? I thought it was quite cute and it shows all those who speak ill of Lauryn that she is approachable.

I love that person's passion to want to hear Selah "Selah...Selaaaaah!" - that was sweet. Kudos to Ms. Hill for responding.

Some of the reviews say how dissapointed they were with the performance. If they had been following Lauryn as real fans they should have known what to expect and not the Lauryn of 15 years ago. These recent shows have been quite good compared to the one I went to in 2007 - she's smiling, singing at times and engaging with her audience. When I saw her in 2007 I knew she was going to be late and how she was going to sound but I still enjoyed it.

She can sell a million on the first week to today's disillusioned listeners but she will never come close to the talent and class that is Lauryn Hill. Shame on her for trying to compare herself to Lauryn Hill too.

Just thinking about collaborations, who would you like Ms. Hill to collaborate with in future. My choices:
Erykah Badu Leela James Sy Smith Lina Amy Winehouse Maxwell Anthony Hamilton Raheem DeVaughn
