Fresh off their Tribeca Film Festival debut, Rebecca Chaiklin and Michael Skolnik and indie studio, Article 19 are starting off thier next project with a little Bling: A Planet Rock.
The docudocu is working in association with cable network, VH1 and for the first time, The United Nations has put up a portion of the film's budget; part of the proceeds will go to charity.
Bling chronicles the diamond wars of Sierra Leone and how hip-hop's 'bling' culture has unknowingly fueled such conflicts. Variety reports Article 19 will take various hip-hop stars such as Kanye West, Jadakiss, Paul Wall and Tego Calderon to Sierra Leone for the presentation.
Article 19 also announced work on the documentary Cry Haiti which follows musician Wyclef Jean's efforts to bring peace to his homeland; the film is being directed by Lisa Leone and Raquel Cepeda. ;D
No word on a release date for either film.
