just because it played for a week doesn't mean she knew about it the promo. It wasn't supposed to be out there in the first place (surprise remember). This is where the Grammy's fkd up; they did this on purpose. He may have been expecting her, but it sounds like they didn't let her on stage, so I wouldn't really classify it as a no-show, as she did make it. People do all sorts of things in anticipation of events. If she felt like there was a possibility she could do it, I'm sure she wanted to get there and do a rehearsal in case she would be able to. Yes, it's not unlike her to be late. It is what it is. If it wasn't really confirmed, then she would have had every right to back out, but it seems as though she DID make it to the event. Let it go, you sound upset as hell lol. I think Lauryn has a little anxiety; it does exist. Night! She'll probably restructure some things I suppose. I'm not upset. I actually want Lauryn to win, like most people who stated she wasn't gonna show before the Grammys even started; deep down they all wanted her to win; they are all fans; even the haters on LSA, they are all Lauryn fans. The thing is this behavior has been occurring since 2005 and yet some fans still excuse it, where everybody else is wrong, and Ms. Hill is right. Everybody is not out to get Ms. Hill. At the end of the day, Ms. Hill will always have an excuse for her behavior; however, theirs no accountability. As fans we do not have to agree with everything the artist does, its important to critic the artist. Hip-Hop fans are currently dragging Kanye West through the mud for his latest album, yet deep down they love him as an artist. I am not opposed to critiquing, I am opposed to judging without all the facts and I am certainly opposed to stating speculation/opinion as factual ( I joke and kid about things). I don't like making final conclusions without having all the facts. I don't like doing that because I know how the media is; they lie. Kanye is umm lol...well he's Kanye. As I said, I think Lauryn could have a little anxiety, which could explain her tardiness on some level (that's just my personal belief). She should probably make a more concerted effort to not be so late or late to events (if there are things outside of her control, I understand, which happens a lot). Anxiety is not easy to deal with, again I am NOT diagnosing, just putting a few things together. Perfectionism is usually tethered to anxiety. She could have a bit of social anxiety disorder (this is on a continuum, so the intensity varies upon where someone would lie on the continuum) I'm just very objective. I see many possibilities. I believe she got on the plane with the INTENTION (not confirmation) of performing with the WEEKND and wanted to get there and be prepared, what happened in between the time of the dress rehearsal and the starting of the grammy's, no one knows.

No use in statements at this point. Imo Even the first statement was a waste of time. All it did was further burn her relationship with the Grammys. Nobody was ever going to believe her anyway because she has no credibility especially when it comes to being late. Lol At this point she just needs to put up or shut up as they say. All these explanations and excuses are useless at this point. Save it for Oprah. *in my sister Mary Clarence voice* nah, she had every right to defend herself when they stated she was a no-show because she wasn't. The Grammy's will have her back if Lauryn wants to do it, guarantee it.

www.theverge.com/2016/2/15/11004664/grammys-2016-watch-weeknd-perform-cant-feel-my-faceI watched the performance and yes, Lauryn may have been a no show but I'm actually happy about that. The Weeknd is not an artist of her calibre and for her to perform with him just doesn't feel right. Has anyone perhaps thought that she may have not wanted to take away his limelight? It was the biggest night in his career and everyone would have been talking about her. I really feel as though after rehearsals, perhaps these thoughts may have come into Lauryn's headspace and she preferred to not go out there. If that was the truth, isn't it ironic that even though she didn't get on stage and perform, it's all about her and not the Weeknd anyway lol...yes could be. Honestly, I hope he falls into the abyss, sorry, but I do not like this guy at all. Right, he still got no shine and he can't sing anyway.

Wendy, you're right on point. Right now she needs to do something big though.
I’ve heard everyone readiness for new material from Lauryn and I had to honestly asked have we grasped what has already been given. MEOLH was her stamp but did we get the message and what was the message that others may learn from it? In as much as I had almost stop listening to secular(wordly-no eternal value, but for this life only entertainment) music at this time, when I did evaluate the album I saw a young lady taking us on a journey about the pain, passion, promises, and progression of a relationship. Along this journey there were heartaches, helplessness, healing, and humility. Finally, the ability to forgive and nurture and cherish a new life through Zion was the outcome. However, for me the best work was what critics called a breakdown, unfinished work, and for them babbling. (Unplugged) I saw cleansing, confession, confrontation, challenges. It was a time of refreshing (just like the waters) restoration (Oh Jerusalem) Repentance (War in the Mind) reflections(they got so much thing to say) reformation (Mystery of Iniquity) regeneration (Peace of Mind) re-evaluation (Mr. Intentional) resolution ( Adam Lives in Theory), and restitution (Conquering Lion) Problems The lyrics were rich but the message was undeniable. Man futile attempt to live life by his own rules only to find out that it leads to pain, sexual transmitted disease, idolatry, sorcery, sin makes one heart black it even impacts our judicial system, it robs us of our peace, there is alway a constant battle in our mind of the path we should take. Finally, we are able to see what happens when we see our brothers suffering and act if though it doesn’t affect us both directly and indirectly. We are reminded that the rain don’t fall on just one man rooftop, but we all sooner or later will experience the rain (injustice, pain, heartaches etc.) But when we repent there is a time of refreshing that cleanses our heart from the filth that we have allowed to dwell there. Solutions 1. Repentance(change of heart) 2. Refreshing (healing impurities being purged) 3. Renewal (thoughts change; as a man thinketh so is he) 4. Reconciliation (fellowship with the Father through His Son Jesus) 5. Relationship (knowing the one that has mark the course for your life) Now we know we are indeed our brother’s keeper. Now when we are summon to court, we don’t take it lightly but we understand that one’s livelihood and future is at stake and we listen carefully to the evidence, we spread the good news etc. We allow our mind to be re-taught. 15 years later have we done these things, if not we are like a salt cellar. We are gather salt storing it in a cellar rather than spreading it everywhere we go. Together we can make the change. One person can open your eye to the ills of society, cut it is up to you to acknowledge your condition(s) repent (to confess)(make known) you have been disobedience which is the only sin. When He says go left and you choose to go right (it’s disobedience). If He says no and you say yes, it’s still disobedience. Let that sink in. In closing, world are we ready for phase 2 which is an evaluation liken unto a man who went away to a far country but before he left he gave gifts and instructed us to occupy until he come with the gifts he had given you to impact the world. Now it’s time for you to give an account of what you have done with the messages that you have heard and how did it impact your life and the life of others. Again I ask, WORLD ARE YOU READY?

Check out @theweeknddata's Tweet: LMAO! Lauryn is a trip. Im no body language expert but check how Lauryn is almost standing authoritatively over Weeknd like a mother figure. You'd swear the Weeknd was the one in the wrong with his awkward stance and nervous smile. It's good that they spoke on the night. Lauryn :"Anything else I can do for you?" Weeknd: "Yes! Record a song with me!" At least that's what I would have said if I were him

There is a voice that seemed to have been added saying I am so sorry. He compliments her by saying, "You Look Great." I don't know where the other voice came from?

I understood clearly that what you said was a joke. However, if you would listen to the video itself there is another voice saying I am sorry. Listen..............

Child....,is this before or after he performed?
She does look great. What could've been... *sigh* At least there are apparently no hard feelings on his part. I don't know a thing about the Weeknd, but he must be a pretty nice guy to post this, right? He could've thrown her all the way under the bus.
I'm guessing he knew she had arrived(just in time) and that's why he kept expecting her to come out. But I guess they didn't let her?
...but I don't know, because Lauryn made it sound like she just had no intention of performing anymore. (I don't really buy it though) lol

New statement from Lauryn's rep about Grammy appearence: 'In regards to the comments this morning from The Grammys, CBS did announce Ms. Hill’s performance, there were official Grammy television ads that ran for a couple of days naming Ms. Hill as a performer on the show. Her camp was unhappy about this. They had made it clear from the start that although Ms. Hill was going to attempt to make the show, she could not confirm, as there were too many logistical issues that could potentially prevent the performance from happening. The performance was also supposed to be a surprise. This was discussed with Grammy organizers, and the TV spots were pulled. As previously mentioned, Ms. Hill attempted a last minute rush to LA, to see if this could happen, but unfortunately timing that day kept it from being a reality. Ms. Hill truly appreciated the invitation, and the efforts made by all parties to try and make the performance happen.' This video must've been after his crappy performance lol Anyway, it does sound like someone said 'I'm so sorry." IDK, it's whatever. Just sounds like it wasn't confirmed, and CBS pulled some bull with that promo ad so they could get higher ratings and make it seem LEGIT. She rushed to make it (CHARTERED a plane, which prob came out her pocket/budget), did make it to L.A. but made no promises, but DID make it in the end, but they wouldn't let her on, that's what I think MAY have happened anyway. CBS/Grammy's/L.A. TIMES think they slick, up there lying.
Glad she released another statement. Defend your character! Don't like how they labeled her a no-show when she was there
I don't like the weeknd, but props for this. He's still a negropean and a douchebag lol, but I'll give him props for backing Ms. Hill here.

Ms. Hill just needs to lay low and let this headline pass by, her latest statement is causing her to be dragged all over the internet. When you have a reputation for lateness no matter what you say such will be used against you, even if you was in the right.
Sorry, but projecting western dogmas to a man from Africa because he projects to stereotypes based on men who share the same color as him is an unfair judgement. The weeknd is Ethiopian, Ethiopian men are very different from western Black men, at the end of the day he will marry an Ethiopian woman. Ethiopian men don't even marry Black women from the western world like that. Ethiopians have never been enslaved, nor colonized, when they move to the western world such is the first time they are associated with be black, and are projected to all the bagged that comes with it. The Weeknd speaks an African language, and was raised in an authentic African culture. Ethiopian women are not criticizing the weeknd for his image, yet non-Ethiopian black women are. I don't understand it, its not like the Weeknd would marry a Black western woman anyway; Habeshas are largely exclusive to their own.
No one labeled Ms. Hill a no show, from what I seen most said she arrived while he was performing, she was a couple minutes late.

No one labeled Ms. Hill a no show, from what I seen most said she arrived while he was performing, she was a couple minutes late. Ethiopians are Black, this has nothing to do with dogma (wrong use) or projection (I assume you mean 'extending' and not the psychological use for this term?) and everything to do with understanding how deep self-hatred runs. Incorrect, many Ethiopian men and women marry Black women/men from outside their group (the Weeknd is a product of this), perhaps not in majority, but it does happen (I know quite a few). It doesn't matter to me that he doesn't marry or date anyone of non-Ethiopian descent. He seems to not even like the Black women within his group, and that is just ONE issue I have with him. I don't need a history lesson, that's not an issue for me. The majority of Black men who are raised overseas have massive self-hatred. He is one; I can spot that ish a mile away. Being able to speak the language and share in cultural customs is NOT indicative of someone that does not have self-hatred. You doing too much and are inserting elements that do not quite fit. I don't care about his image/how he looks, however there are some who have made mention of him in this regard. Another incorrect statement of yours is asserting that Ethiopians prior to coming to America/wherever didn't associate with being Black, that's not accurate AT ALL. PLEASE GO TAKE A TRIP TO ETHIOPIA. It's just there is no USE in stating the OBVIOUS in a country or continent where race isn't a factor (on the surface). It'd make more sense to go by ethnicity/tribe/nationality, but they most certainly and PROUDLY claim they are Black. I don't care who he dates or who he marries, what I DO care about is him using Black culture cultivated and pioneered by the SAME women he purportedly dislikes or has disdain for and I also care about young girls and women who take to him not knowing what the deal may be. I doubt he'll marry anyone within his own ethnic group because he doesn't seem to like Black women in totality and he can do that, but don't try and use Black women. Black men and women who date interracially can keep it moving; don't come back when ish hits the fan though. Like he has been rumored to state to a Black woman 'he don't fk with BLACK women [not any particular ethnicity]', I don't fk with negropeans and I call them out, just in case there are Black women/young girls who take to these kinds of people without realizing what they may feel about them as Black females. His musical content is also trash. Yes they labelled her a no-show, scroll through the thread and on the internet. They labelled her a no-show, which is probably why she came out swinging in her initial release.
It's good she released her second statement. She probably wanted to clarify or give a more thorough response. This was good, she probably won't release another after this because she exposed the grammy's to be liars. She ain't caring about being dragged now lol, she exposed them for being liars and put the fault of misperception regarding this situation squarely on the shoulders of where it needed to be, because this wasn't a PROMISED performance and CBS/GRAMMY's ran it like it was. A surprise is just that, a surprise...it wasn't supposed to be announced and it wasn't confirmed.
