Very good point about Hitler. He rounded up people like me and put them in ovens. It's not about playing a victim, it's about ensuring that such things never happen again. The Nazis put people like me in ovens and burned them up!

It's a very risky debate and I think both parties have points. LA323 did not say that the death of a Black kid is more important than that of a Palestinian kid, she says pointed out the racism of arabs in the middle east and in north africa toward Black people suggesting it's not a totally clear and manichean situation. Slavery of Black people still exists in Mauritania and Black people in Morocco are considered second class citizens. Moreover whether people like it or not, even if Lauryn Hill fights against injustice in the whole world, she often adresses issues encountered by Black people and i mean "Black rage". I mean remember her 2013 piece on Racism or the part of her 2007 interview in Brussels where she talks about the almost schizophrenic situation or black people worldwide ie being Black and finding your place in a world mostly prejudiced against us (i am from Congo and raised in France even here things are difficult when you're not White). At the same time She travels worldwide and she always talks about her love of all cultures and people, She grew up in the with people from all backgrounds so I am pretty sure she does not see things only through a color/race lens. But please people don't throw in accusations by Comparing La323 to Hitler, it is just ridiculous. When Lauryn talks about women preferring weaves and European hair she adresses Black women and tell them love yourself and what God gave you. Because Black people (woman especially) are often overlooked and despised in the media or on the international scene. Yes everybody can relate and the message is for everyone but there is a Black experience, people should not be ashamed to talk about it.
And to the poster who said apartheid was just racial ségrégation, do your research. Until 1991, black people in South Africa were killed, raped and daily mistreated by a minority in their own country. Let's not compare suffering but apartheid was way more than simple separation. you dont know what its like to be told daily that you're not a human being but just below monkeys just because you're Black. And don't get me started on segregation and slavery in the US or colonization in Africa.
What is happening in Palestine is awful and I hope one day a real solution will be found. too many generations of Palestinian youth have been sacrified. I still have the images of intifada in mind and kids throwing rocks to armed soldiers. But I also hope next time a Black kid is shot because of hoodie, you'll be sincerely as moved and offended that the killer can get out free.
Finally LA 323, I see what you're about and Black people worldwide need to free themselves from self hatred and inferioty complex, one day we collectively will. Kemet will rise again, I know that. But when you exclude other people/civilizations/cultures' plight you play the game of the devil that wants to divide us and turn us all against each other. Its bigger than race, dont get it twisted. Blacks, Whites, Arabs, Jewish, Asians have lived together for milleniums. Blacks are not more the chosen people of God than Jews coz there were Black Jews, White Jews and maybe even Asian Jews, I would not be surprised given the trade realities and connections of the Ancient time. Being God Child is not about your ethnicity, its about you heart and whether or not you follow His Teachings and fight evil by spreading Joy and Love in the world.
Just my 20 cent...
Peace

She was probably planning to go to Israel from Nigeria but as we know she never made it to Nigeria. So it may just be a logistics issue that they are working on right now.

Dear Friends and Fans in Israel,
When deciding to play the region, my intention was to perform in both Tel Aviv and Ramallah. Setting up a performance in the Palestinian Territory, at the same time as our show in Israel, proved to be a challenge. I’ve wanted very much to bring our live performance to this part of the world, but also to be a presence supporting justice and peace. It is very important to me that my presence or message not be misconstrued, or a source of alienation to either my Israeli or my Palestinian fans. For this reason, we have decided to cancel the upcoming performance in Israel, and seek a different strategy to bring my music to ALL of my fans in the region. May healing, equanimity, and the openness necessary for lasting resolution and reconciliation come to this region and its people.
Respectfully,
Ms. Lauryn Hill

Until *they* get themselves right, we only have each other. Much love
