I've been a little down about the lack of new substantive content from Ms. Hill. I remember seeing a post about this documentary a while back and scourged the interwebs looking for it! Then today I came across this link!!! I'm not sure if she's shown in the documentary but I'm hoping to be refreshing just hearing Ms. Hill speak at length. Anyone else excited about this? Could this be leading to more new content? We've been down this road before and I'm guessing probably not... But I'll take anything from Ms. Hill for what it's worth! itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/concerning-violence/id940099206?ign-mpt=uo%3D8

I saw it today. Impressive and poignant. The choice of archives is very interesting. Most of them cover the decolonization fight in Angola, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and South Africa. Apart from Lauryn's excellent narration, the film revolves around interviews of revolution leaders such as Amilcar. cabral and Thomas Sankara. Interviews of thed colonizers are also very informative.
I recommend it! Cant wait to buy the dvd and watch it again!

It was released in the UK! Could someone PLEASE send me the video!? I'll pay you for it (seriously, , email OneNine0588@gmail.com!)we We are blind!! The same one that Frantz Fanon was trying to break free from is the same one that produced the documentary. Why is it when we are dead now it worth talking about? Rubbish! We always allow others to tell our story and we are so happy for a token. The man has been dead over 50 years and nothing has changed for the better. What's the point? Most of Ms. Hill audience will be filled with faces that does not look like her so when she sings about the struggles; what type of ears is it falling on. That was some of Fanon concerns. He was institutionalized to think like he was taught not outside the box. Most see truth as ranting on and on about what is seen as normal or typical of the culture. Pan the audience at the concerts. Applaud does not equate True Change. This documentary get rave reviews and awards and nothing change like the movie Selma get rave review and the meat of the civil right act of 1964 have been removed making it basically of NO EFFECT. IT TIME TO OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE WHAT OBVIOUS. THE PRODUCER IS WHITE FOR THE MOVIE SELMA CAN HE REALLY UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE BY READING A SCRIPT. I DON'T THINK SO AND OLD FOOTAGE ABOUT A STRUGGLE WON'T GET IT EITHER!

SOMEHOW WE ARE ALWAYS TARGETED TO PROMOTE AGENDA. MS. HILL VOICE AND HER LYRICAL CONTENTS WERE THE PERFECT CANDIDATE CHOSEN TO SOLIDIFY THE PROJECT. TO MAKE IT AUTHENTIC, OT GIVE IT MERITS. WE MUST BE WILLING TO INVEST OUR OWN MONEY, TIME, AND TALENT TO TELL OUR OWN STORY. WE SEEM TO BE CONSUMERS INSTEAD OF PRODUCER. BEING USE LIKE A TOOLS TO PROMOTE WHAT APPEARS GENUINE INTENT;THE OPPRESS BECOMES THE OPPRESSORS.

This documentary was on point!! I see why his book was banned in France. He told the damn truth. L was a perfect fit for this narration. I can tell she resonated with much of his viewpoints.

This documentary was on point!! I see why his book was banned in France. He told the damn truth. L was a perfect fit for this narration. I can tell she resonated with much of his viewpoints. That exactly my point. It was true when Frantz Fanon wrote his first book, Black Skin, White Masks, an analysis of the negative psychological effects of colonial subjugation(to defeat a group of people and force them to obey you) upon Black people. However the book The Wretched of the Earth, on which the documentary is based was published shortly before his death in 1961. 54 years later the mental disorders and effects are still being felt and the documentary seem to serve to show the power of colonization even after it is supposedly been discontinued, but it still alive and well it just isn't using this name. Now Fanon's work is receiving critical acclaims and awards, but at the end of the day, can true freedom be obtained without the renewing of the mind? What methods will be used to achieved this? How can this be done without a vision? Finally where will this vision come from? Without these answers, I am afraid that we will have "Rebels without a Real Cause."
