Saving the Best for Last
These words seem to solidify Ms. Hill's performance at Brooklyn Bowl last night. No, she did not arrive any earlier and some suggested it was five minutes later than the night before;nonetheless, for those that persevered, they were thoroughly energized and taken to another level. Some even opt to miss the last train because they were witnessing the greatest performance of their lives. Usually after a long tour many artists are ready to pack it in and go home, but Ms. Hill seem to have been lifted after catching her second wind. She went up in the stratosphere and took many with her I might add. She took her shoes off for a smooth landing. In the bible there was a wedding and the guest ran out of wine and Mary (Jesus' mother) told them to ask him and whatever He says do it. Jesus being a little hesitant told them to filled the pot with water and draw some out and take it to the master of the feast who after tasting it declared that most give inferior wine at the end of the feast, but they (the wedding parties) had saved the best for last. Ms. Hill song everything from His eyes on the sparrow to I ain't never love a man by Ree Ree. The crowd was lively and attentive seeming to be bashing in this moment where art infuse itself in our soul producing a charge lasting for days or longer depending on the hearers. This tour has taken Ms. Hill over continents, large venues and Brooklyn being one of the smallest did not dilute the singer's energy, love, spirit, nor soulful, sassy, punk, hip hop, or (gospellic, my word, did not want Webster to have come up with them all) performance. I believe fans caught and rode waves of emotions from joy to pain, inspired to transformed, love to rage, simplistic to complicated, highs and low and was then brought back to shore. Finally, I am sure fans will remember this incredible performance and say, "Sometimes good things really come to those who wait."

www.mtv.co.uk/lauryn-hill/news/mtv-review-lauryn-hill-brings-the-exfactor-to-brooklyn-bowl-londonMTV Review: Lauryn Hill Brings The ‘Ex-Factor’ To Brooklyn Bowl London The former Fugee put to bed rumours of shoddy performances on her second night at Brooklyn Bowl London… Lauryn Hill’s Brooklyn Bowl London gig was the hottest ticket in town on Monday night, despite clashing with Kylie Minogue in the main O2 Arena, not to mention negative reviews from her previous Brixton Academy show. However, MTV UK’s experience couldn’t have been more positive, with Ms. Lauryn Hill proving she is well and truly worth any wait. Feeling: While Lauryn was an hour late arriving on stage, the crowd was generally upbeat, waiting in anticipation to see what the legendary lady would pull out of the bag. With no real support act, a DJ finally appeared around 10.15pm, getting everyone in the mood with a bit of Fiddy Cent and plenty of, “Are you ready for Lauryn Hill?!” chat. Ready as we were ever going to be, Lauryn’s band members appeared on stage to cheers from the crowd, building further anticipation as to whether those previous dodgy reviews were justified. Then, melting away our worries, the lady of the night appeared like a true ‘Soul Rebel’. The Look: There’s something slightly strange about seeing the face of that girl you used to worship in ‘Sister Act’ on a grown woman’s body, but – minus the cornrows – Lauryn Hill is as stunning as ever. Dressed in a loose-fitting blue floral dress, with a metal cuff to rival Beyoncé’s bionic ‘Single Ladies’ hand, Lauryn looked utterly fierce. Our venue, Brooklyn Bowl, was looking mighty pretty too – everyone loves a disco ball. Tunes: Lauryn knows what her audience wants, and while she may have mixed it up on some tracks, the crowd generally seemed satisfied by classic tracks including ‘Everything Is Everything’, ‘Ex-Factor’ and ‘Mr. Intentional’. Fugees fans were well taken care off with ‘Fu-Gee-La’ and ‘Ready Or Not’, while Lauryn also paid frequent homage to Bob Marley & The Wailers, before bringing out the big guns on ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’. Sweat Factor: Beyond hot, to the point Ms. Hill was dabbing her brow pretty frequently, and we may have had a little near-faint incident. All in an evening’s work! Summary: We’re not sure what the Brixton lot were talking about. Long live Lauryn Hill! 4/5 stars!

From the reviews there has not been a question of the energy that Ms. Hill put into her performance; rather, it has been audience anticipation and their energy rising and falling due to her late arrival on stage. It like a balloon that has been blow up and the air let out, it never can go back to it original shape but just flat at the moment. When time and energy connects, we will see a both the entertainer and the audience getting what they had long for satisfaction.

I think the sound has been an issue; better equipment will make for a more memorable show. Most of all the concerts sounds distorted and too much feedback bass drowning out Ms. Hill voice on many occasion. Equipment unable to accommodate the load. Definitely sound like new equipment/soundman is in order. I have never been a fan of muzzled sounds. Clarity is a must!!!
