I love the direction she took with this "sketch." Though I loved her previous version as well, this version allows you to hear the words so she doesn't have to explain what she just said to you at the end. lol That said, this song was just an awesome concept in general. The subject would've been too much for a lot of people had they heard it at any other time though. What I find amazing is that the arrangement that she envisioned is exactly what's on that ROUGH sketch/demo! That goes to show you that she's not playing about making sure that she ALONE is writing her music and not letting anyone claim that they created it. Listen to the last few performances of Black Rage and then listen to the demo and you can hear it's exactly what she wanted. She's just cooking up things in the lab! I'm so excited for this to be recorded finally!! mymajesticpage.blogspot.com/2012/11/ms-lauryn-hill-black-rage-unreleased.htmlThe song actually has been recorded and mastered a while back, it seems Lauryn opted to release the DEMO instead of the official studio version.

I'M GLAD THIS SONG WAS RELEASED IN 2012 AND NOT WITHIN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. I WAS PRESENT WHEN SHE PERFORMED IT IN HOUSTON. HAD SHE WAITED TILL NOW TO RELEASE IT, PEOPLE IN MO WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY USED IT AS A SOUNDTRACK TO VIOLENT PROTEST. "BLACK RAGE" WOULD HAVE BEEN USED A SLOGAN TO JUSTIFY VIOLENT BEHAVIOR. REMEMBER WHAT SHE SAID ABOUT "REBEL" ON UNPLUGGED.

^Most of the violence seemed to come from the police. 2 caught on tape have been suspended, but those were just the ones stupid enough to act out on camera.

I have no problem with violence.

Beautiful analysis of a great song. Lauryn Hill still more relevant than most of these untalented artists currently dominating the music industry.
