I wish that the songs with substance weren't cut so short oh jerusalem, mr intentional, final hour which i think should be slowed down a little to allow audience to not just get the hook but the other words too.

Need help with this one too! That's not her lyrics. Everything that she puts out has substance and skill. Bragging in Hip Hop is art form in itself. It takes so much skill not to spit the same mundane lyrics over and over again.

We are living in a time when violence is running rampant and we don't want to plant seeds. Further with Harry Potter and other magic spells and portion our children are being mixed up in the prince of darkness to gain power, fame, and fortunes. We are too quick to defend rather than let that thought soak in. Are we aware what we are saying and who it is affecting and how it will influence them (the younger generation)?

Please, don't be freaked by Harry Potter or voodoo .... This is a soooo christian-bullsh*t theory ! There're more serious problem to talk about than a movie or cultural practice (to which I give my total respect) . Concerning voodoo, don't forget Wyclef is Haitian and even if he's a preacher's son he's already participate to a voodoo ceremony .... In my opinion, there's always substance, yes, but different kind of substances. Christian songs like Oh jerusalem or others like this have clearly a christian substance but these are not what I prefer.... I'm glad Lauryn Hill continues to evolve, changing her music, and her lyrics! But I think the younger generation is ... too young to understand what's going on with her lyrics and is more threatened by commercial stuff, or in another way by unbending ways of thinking like fondamentalist christianity.

What you don't understand is the culture/hip hop. PPL who don't know what voudou is usually has your mentality. Last I checked that verse has had no effect on anyone. What you should concern yourself with is what's being fed today. Additionally, just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it isn't of substance.
