The Queen Hits Long Island Lauryn Hill, a musical icon, made her way to The Paramount in Huntington, New York on the night of January 26th, 2014. Many anticipated this day with a gleam in their eyes. The audience knew what they were about to witness as they danced to the feel-good music played by the opening DJ. Tracks from The Isley Brothers, Barry White, and even Stevie Wonder filled the room, swaying the crowd from side to side in slow motion bringing them back to memories from years ago. The crowd cheered as he brought them back to the world of 90s Hip Hop with tracks like “The Choice is Yours” from DJ Cut Killer and Ultramixx’s “Next-too Close”. The time everyone was waiting for had arrived, show time. Her band along with her three beautiful back up singers walked onto the stage. One of the guitarist played electrifying notes with the rest of the band accompanying him, driving the audiences energy through the roof. Lauryn Hill slowly appeared from the darkness behind the curtain in a stylish unique outfit, fitting her personality as an artist who always positively stood out from the rest. She was welcomed by screaming fans and arms flaring in the air. A new energy had transpired through the venue as she softly spoke into the microphone. “How you doin Long Island?” The crowd cheered as loud as they could reassuring her of their passion for her creative music. She looked back at the band and pointed towards the ceiling instructing them to bring their musical enthusiasm even higher! The band played a reggae-influenced set as she joined them by singing her hit single “Killing me Softly” along to the beat. “Killing Me Softly” was released in 1996 by the Fugees on their album The Score. It went on to become number two on the U.S Airplay Chart. In 1996, it was officially the U.K’s biggest-selling single of that year. This record became so successful they had to eliminate it from all retailers. By doing this they were able to draw the fans’ attention to their following single “Ready or Not”. As the show continued she had fans across the venue sing along to many of her songs like “Everything is Everything”, “Final Hour”, “Lost Ones”, “Ex-factor”, and a few others. Then she took her fans farther into history with the Fugees’ “How Many Mics” and “Fu-Gee-La”. After the crowd was done cheering the lights dimmed out and a sound flew out of the speakers bouncing off every wall resonating in every ear. The venue recognized the intro and instantly sung in unison: “Ready or Not, Here I Come, You Can’t Hide, Gonna Find You and Take it Slowly, Ready Or Not, Here I Come, You Can’t Hide, Gonna Find You and Make you want me!” Ms. Hill had the location vibrating with her energy during her entire performance! She continue her set with a few songs that heavily influenced her musical path like “Chances Are” and “Could This Be Love” by Bob Marley, and even Stevie Wonder’s “Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer”. She closed the show with her famously known single “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, making the audience lift their heels and yell out the lyrics along with her singing. Overall, L Boogie has not lost her energy and ability to move a crowd of people with her voice. If you were to compare her performances from the 90s to now there would be no difference to point out. She maintains her title as a Hip Hop legend no matter how much time passes. It was a pleasure to witness such a beauteous production. source

Good ! But i don't understand her strategy... She had an upcoming album, almost ready (recording finished, mixing finished in late 2013) et she performed in this concert lots of covers and no "new songs" (Neurotic society, Consumerism, Black rage...) ? I wonder why there haven't been many pics or videos of her recent concerts lately. Considering that her voice has been in excellent form and she has been performing a lot of rare and unreleased material during her Homecoming Tour you would think people would be busting out there phones and recording lol. Oh we'll hopefully some vids will pop up soon.

But i think the first reason to the lack of videos and pics is the crowd: i don't think there are tons of people in the crowd of this concerts. In this last days i have seen on a concert hall website the occupancy of crowd and it was not full. I think it's reliable to the size of concert hall (not big) and price of tickets (75 dollars minimum).
