I think she may be doing a bit of PR to attack the racist and homophobic labels people have been placing on her. Anderson Cooper, that human rights group, singing the Beatles, she even has white people in her band now. lol This is good, it suggests she is setting the stage to drop her album.

I think she is networking in every area. Anderson Cooper and the free press represent the media. Brown university represents education. I am sure MLH attended an Ivy League school herself ( Columbia). I think she is working in a longer timeframe than most artists / activists. She seems to be building the story of a life rather than going for maximum short term impact. If you read the wiki biography it reads like a legend lol. When you read that effectively she left music industry for ten years to raise her kids it seems a long time from our perspective now but if you think about reading it in 10 or 20 years time you may well have a story that reads, you can leave your career to raise your children and take it up again, Aka woman do not need to have a sell by date ! I like a long game plan I just wish I could book a plane ticket to a concert without fear that it would be rescheduled lol

She's not homophobic or racist, but she is pro-Black and feels homosexuality and other sexual orientations outside of heterosexuality are an aberration. Perhaps it's a PR move, but she'll probably deal with these topics in her music so I mean lol...IDK.... We'll have to wait and see I suppose. Thanks for the input.

She could've chosen another school if she wanted, so I'm not entirely in agreement there. She's been in the game since the 90s, she's been long term. There were a lot of things preventing her from releasing new music during that time she was away; it wasn't just to raise her kids. She was being prevented. LOL @ the rescheduling bit, yeah I understand lol... I'm going to the one out here in L.A., but I'll probably bring a book just in case though lol.

You seem to like the idea of her offending people, but if she is not homophobic or racist it doesn't benefit her to have people believe that she is. Sony is a major label, they are in it for money and trying to sell something. Lauryn may hate that part of it but it is wise for her to choose her battles. As long as it isn't going against her beliefs, PR is good.

Please provide receipts for her views on homosexuality! I know nothing of her describing anything about people's sexualities. she hints at it in her response to her Neurotic Society song: Neurotic Society is a song about people not being, or not being able to be, who and what they truly are, due to the current social construct. I am not targeting any particular group of people, but rather targeting everyone in our society who hides behind neurotic behavior, rather than deal with it.The world we live in now is, in many ways, an abhorrent distortion, an accumulation of generations and generations of response to negative stimuli. Many don’t even have a concept of what normal is, by virtue of having lived afraid, ashamed, as victims of abuse, or inadequately handled for so long. I believe in coming up from under that fear and allowing the psyche/soul to truly heal. I understand that healing is a process, but I also believe that it is our responsibility to seriously care for ourselves, so that we can extend that level of concern for others and positively affect our environment.I want what is best for Humanity. Humanity, aligned with the Spiritual principles, that help each individual conquer fear, and transcend limited circumstance. I believe in healing and dealing with the traumatizing events of our lives, both in this lifetime, as well as those passed down to us, or inherited, so we can live as fully as possible. The whole world suffers from a lack of honest dialogue. Character and integrity have suffered at the hands of political correctness and corporate agenda, while our society moves further and further towards unhealthiness and breakdown. I oppose these trends.Everyone has a right to their own beliefs. Although I do not necessarily agree with what everyone says or does, I do believe in everyone’s right to protest. The overarching message of my music is to get up and stop compromising! And hopefully it will stimulate and motivate the changes that our society needs. Artists are constantly under media and public scrutiny. This is not a one-way street. Those of us with the charge of putting out faithful vibrations, have a responsibility to report what we see, and to write about what we know. I have seen some of the best and also some of the worst representations of human behavior. The same way that I exalt that which is high, is the same way I expose that which is abusive, in order to motivate and remind if not all of us, than as many as possible, of the Higher Calling.
People need to understand that Lauryn is very spiritual/Christian. You cannot expect someone like her to condone homosexuality or any other type of sexual aberration/orientation. She believes that the underlying cause of these behaviors are due to trauma that was never addressed and I agree. She also thinks in many cases it's become a trend with some, this I can also agree with as I've seen women/men turn it on/off when they have been hurt. There is more to the trend part she mentioned, it's not just dealing with sexual orientation. Hope that answers it, but it is what it is.

LOL I don't know if he's homosexual, not all men who are in that industry are homosexual, albeit the majority are however, but I don't get that vibe from him. Being against a lifestyle doesn't mean you can't be kind or offer them jobs etc...

No, I just found it odd that people still don't get her or her music. She's cleared the air all ready, Blacks are unable to be racist anyway, but that's another story for another time. Lauryn will be fine. Her core base is Black people anyway. She is partnered with Sony, she has her own label under them. She's not tied down like she was. Right, so long as it doesn't conflict with her beliefs or it may be that she feels she's to reach out to them, who knows. She says she has a mission (modern day Harriet Tubman like), I'd like to see where it goes and what she does. She has a lot of influence and respect in the Hip Hop/Black community though.

.....or maybe she knows the anti. omosexual sentiment in the popular versions bible was writtin to encourage procreation in a society where birth rates struggled and life spans were shorter. I'm sleep though... Most or the time I feel you make interesting points Mountzion but I don't agree with you here. Most of the verses that refers to homosexuality clearly condemn the act of sex between people of the same sex (not the people who perform it) and refer to it as an abomination (in the New and old Testament which was written thousand years apart) so please do not be one of those people who twist and trivialize the words of the Bible that they find offensive to justify their choices in life. In the Old Testament, people were said to live hundreds of years and had dozens of children generation after generation. I am against discrimination, hate and marginalization of entire groups of people because my people have suffered from it for centuries worldwide but I don't like this politically 'correct society where you cannot speak your mind by fear of backlash. Christians who read the Bible and believe its teachings were inspired by God or are directly from God (like the ten Commandments) must try to stay away from sin but they must not judge others if they don't want to be judged harshly by God. People believe in what they want but I am tired of reading misinformation about Christianity, Judaism or Islam (to me they are three different paths to the same summit) created by people who don't want to be told about their wrong doings. Religion is about more than organized control as I sometimes read on the net. Sure there are many many criticable facts and I am the first to point them out but faith and fear of God inspired many great human beings so maybe it's not that bad (Mandela, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X (at the end of his life he believed in Orthodox Islam and no longer followed the Nation of Islam), Mother Theresa, Wangari Maathai, to name a few)

She does things on her own terms and does not submit to the preconceived ideas regarding Black female artists. She is inspiring
