www.tmz.com/2013/04/19/lauryn-hill-landlord-eviction-squatting-taxes-prison/ LAURYN HILL'S LANDLORD SQUATTER? We Hardly Knew Her! rammy Award-winning R&B legend Lauryn Hill is being sued for eviction ... the good news, she's probably going to prison so she won't need that place anyway. Lauryn's been renting a South Orange, New Jersey mansion since 2009. Things went south when she stopped paying rent last month, so her landlord ran to court and filed a legal ultimatum -- pay your rent NOW, or get out. Lauryn hasn't paid, so the eviction lawsuit is now full steam ahead. Lauryn will be sentenced next week for tax fraud. She pled guilty and now faces several years in federal prison. Nothing like moving from a big house to the big house

There we go again, i have not been posting on this site in a while but these negative info is seriously depressing. I wonder if Lauryn is broke, can someone tell us what is really going on as i am so confused. I hate this considering how this woman could have ruled the world and could have been with a man who would have complemented her and taken care of her. What is this really going on people... Bad bad choices. We still love her though

I think she has a few houses, and imagine she owns at least one. She'll have a few pennies saved too. This is just headline-grabbing sillyness I reckons.
Love! x

Lauryn Hill, homeless? Not quite, but singer faces two lawsuits
Lauryn Hill won't be homeless. The couple that rents her the million-dollar mansion in South Orange have filed eviction proceedings against her, but another lawsuit filed against Hill by the town reveals that she doesn't actually live there. Hill, who faces sentencing and possible jail time Monday in her tax evasion case, is accused by the town of using the Irving Avenue mansion for rehearsals and to house visiting musicians, a violation of zoning ordinances. The town filed the lawsuit in Superior Court in Essex County against both Hill and her landlords, Phillip and Diane Faillace, in November for allegedly running a business out of a home, which is a zoning violation, according to town lawyer Steven C. Rother. The lawsuit may have been the trigger in the other lawsuit filed against Hill by her landlords. TMZ.com reported today that Hill stopped paying rent last month, which led the couple to begin eviction proceedings. Court records show that the Faillaces, who now live in England and purchased the Irving Avenue mansion in 2003 for $950,000, filed a tenancy case against Hill March 5. Lawyers for Hill and her landlords could not be reached for comment. The town alleges in its lawsuit that Hill, who owns two other homes in South Orange, rents the Irving Avenue property but does not live there. Neighbors have reported that musicians rehearse in the home “all hours of the day and night,” and the lawsuit says the driveway is used as long-term parking for other performers and personnel. The Grammy winner was charged with failing to pay taxes on $1.8 million in income in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Hill pleaded guilty last year, and her lawyers have argued for leniency, saying she could pay back the money she owes if she could work. She also explained that she didn’t pay her taxes as a result of her general withdrawal from society “due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.” Hill has six children. www.nj.com/entertainment/celebrities/index.ssf/2013/04/lauren_hill_eviction.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

@ Sengun, it is really sad to imagine the Lauryn from Sistrer Act II, the Fugees and Miseducation era to be subjected to this kind of mess. I always wonder what really happenned to a career so promising to this. Its true she really needs our prayers.

@masado "They hail you then they nail you/ no matter who you are"!
@guest21 THANK YOU for posting that. You beat me to it! Ms. Hill doesn't live in a mansion. Nice house, likely a gated community, but not a mansion. Her kids post pics of themselves in a nice but modest for a celeb house. She ain't broke, just not "ballin' just cuz". She is smart, and a parent. Only a sorry parent wastes money and has NONE to save for his/her kids!
Revolution is real. It is painful. It is ugly. When you mess with The Vatican, you will be attacked. Period. We should EXPECT this y'all. Seriously! While it is sad how stupid people are; how wicked and desperate the media is, we have to know this is what is done to anyone who undermines those in power...ESPECIALLY A PUBLIC FIGURE THAT HAS THE POWER AND THE PLATFORM TO HURT THEM!

MLH just released a statement on Twitter & Tumbler about this BS: mslaurynhill.tumblr.com/YET ANOTHER MEDIA INACCURACY… I’d like to set the record straight: I am not squatting, and I do not owe any money to my landlord. I have always stayed current on rent. I was raised in South Orange, which is why these allegations are not only false, but insulting. I am in talks with the town about resolving an unrelated issue, regarding how I use my home to work on my music, which has nothing to do with my financial obligations. Won’t it be great when real journalism returns to replace inaccurate tabloid harassment. 16 minutes ago 15 notes
