Oprah responding from a tweet from Joe to interview Lauryn Hill said, "trying to get her to say yes. Lauren Hill". She may want to learn to spell her name first, but what do you guys think?
joe, @jcsef @oprah You should interview Lauryn Hill! That'd be fascinating!
Oprah Winfrey @oprah @jcsef trying to get her to say yes. Lauren Hill
joe, @jcsef Oprah tweeted me y'all. I told you we're best friends. Haters repent.

I was watching her Last Chapter series with 50 cent and I immediately thought that she was the person to interview Lauryn because she had a respectful and thorough way of getting the truth out of him and also the Kardashians on their episode. Oprah just has a gift with people.

I was wondering why Oprah never interviewed Lauryn - Lauryn is apparently so damn stubborn, sometimes. lol. Picture how that interview would turn out if it happened. "Oprah: So is it Lauryn Hill or Ms. Hill these days? Lauryn: MS. Lauryn Hill. Why. Because that is the respect I deserve. I don't think the public understands, there's been so many lies and miscommunication. Oprah, they tried to kill me. Oprah: They? By that you mean the CIA? Lauryn: Absolutely. The CIA, Sony's professional hitman, the military industrial complex. I was silent about it for a while. But there's a time for silence and there's a time for truth. And I just think it's time. Oprah: Time for what exactly? Lauryn: Well, for many years, I had no choice but to go completely "underground" and establish a new community, a new freedom, a new wardrobe, a new voice, a new song arrangement, a new ME, a MS. Lauryn Hill. Oprah: Hm. The stakes must've been high. Lauryn: Absolutely." Lol. All jokes aside, a one-on-one between those two would be forthcoming, as well as enlightening. Lauryn is always so vague, and she needs someone who will put that vagueness right out of her.

@beginning...Lol. That was hilarious. I had to comment just to tell you that.
But seriously, not to be negative but I don't see that ever happening. Oprah is good but she is a representative of the system that Lauryn hates so much. OWN is struggling. That network needs rating which is why we've seen her interviewing all these pop culture heavy hitters. I can't see Lauryn wanting to be a part of that. You know, exploited for commercial gain. I don't see what incentive there is for Lauryn when she can just speak to her supporters via twitter or Tumblr, and she clearly wants to control her means of communication. The editing process can be a you know what. It seems that L is only going to open up to someone she trusts and someone she feels has good intentions. Not to say Oprah has bad intentions but she certainly has business intentions, which are to capitalize on the mystique and controversy that surrounds Ms. Hill in order to improve her ratings. Just my three cents though.

Yes Lauryn is Vague as hell!Imagine her describing the color of the sky!! but we love it because when she does it in her lyrics its beautiful. But yes one has to KNOW that Oprah has tried to do interviews with Lauryn in the past. Her story is just too deep. But I dont think Lauryn wants that. She does not want to put herself out there, and quite frankly i dont blame her. Journalism and tabloids are even worse today then they were 4 years ago. Especially with the rise of internet blogs which rarely hold integrity to keep things true. The way the news takes bits and pieces and purposely tells partial truth to create lies is ridiculous. Lauryn makes one statement about artists holding their integrity, while simultaneously saying she had no ties with Nicki Minaj, and the media takes that as "Lauryn Hill Supports Nicki Minaj Walkout" B.S.

Nigel Guest, that is so true the media misunderstood her on that Nikki Minaj saga. People fail to use common sense, there is no way Lauryn would want to be associated with Nikki. Beginning Guest u are very funny a laughed so hard.

Just my three cents though. I've been speaking about this for years. If there is anybody who Lauryn should speak with it should be Oprah. Who else would you propose? Diane Sawyer or Barbara Walters? And don't even mention anyone from BET. #KMT# Yes, Oprah has been interviewing people like the Kardashians, and 50 Cent, but if you've been following her network you will have also noticed that she has also successfully launched an amazing TV-Online show called LifeClass, boasting some of the biggest names in the spiritual field such as Iyanla Vanzant, Bishop TD Jakes, Deepak Chopra, and Tony Robbins. And she also has a show called Super Soul Sunday, in which she speaks to other spiritual thought-leaders, and that show has just won an Emmy. You don't hear the media talking much about these shows as its not interested in people becoming spiritually enlightened. Yes, she is doing some celebrity interviews maybe to boast rating but she is also doing some ground-breaking shows that are pioneering new ways of thinking, and showing how we can all live a more spiritual life. You know Lauryn is, and has always been very spiritual. The person who does a televised interview with her needs to interview her from a spiritual perspective or you wont get the best out of her. Maybe after the court case is settled she'll finally open up to Oprah.....but only time will tell!

I'm excited by the prospect of an interview with Oprah. But for me, personally, I would love to see her speaking to Tavis Smiley or Charlie Rose instead.

masdo I wish you would stop speaking for Ms. Hill, downing Nicki, Lauryn has even used a Nicki verse, so no association? That's false, stop downing another artist doing her thing because YOU don't like what she does, Nicki has surpassed Hill musically by way of commercial success, Nicki is doing what works for Nicki, Hill is doing what works for Hill

I am not sure about Tavis Smiley, he was entertaining Wyclef and Pras a few years back when they were dissing Lauryn on his show. I thought that was disrespectful, a person with integrity will never allow such stupidity on their show considering that most of the negative publicity on her life is based on rumours not facts. Even Rohan confirmed during that period that both Wyclef and Pras are not in contact with Lauryn, and that they even had the audacity to tell Sony executives that she is crazy. Tavis has lost one. Oprah would be appropriate considering that she is friends with a lot of people that respect Lauryn to this day eg Mary J Blige, Jay Z, Russel Simmonds, Danzil Washington, Chris Rock and the list is endless. She will definately show love and respect to Lauryn.

That mock interview posted is hilarious! Lauryn is deep or as she says her content is "heavy as bricks."
I absolutely agree with jamesbarber4 that the person who interviews Lauryn must be able to embrace her spirituality. She has talked about her approach to music and how certain elements have to come together to produce something magical. I agree that Oprah Winfrey is the only person who could pull this off. Lauryn would be a great guest on her Sunday Morning Show, "Super Soul Sunday." On this show Oprah connects with guest on a spiritual level. Lauryn's philosophy spreads beyond just music. I'm sure many people will be moved by her insights especially us loyal fans!

With regards to album sales u are wrong because the Miseducation has sold over 22 million worldwide, Fugees Score over 22 million worldwide, Fugees Blunted on Reality over 6 million, Unplugged over 2 million. All those albums combined they might amount to over 50 million. This also includes soldout shows internationally. Dont get me started on Nikki vs Lauryn it is unnecessary because we all know Nikki's music is garbage, If you like it then keep it to yourself and dont rub it on me. I am not going to support a black female artist who 's career is based on foolery behaviour and performing with dildos on stage. The fact that Lauryn declined to feature on Nikki's album, that should be a clue.

To GuestUwhat1
Nikki is not doing what works for her, she is doing what her Masters are paying her to do which is dumbing down of the black youth and reinforcing stereotypes about black women, going around calling black women nappy headed whores. Whereas Lauryn has remained true to herself by being defiant to a corrupt system that has messed up the minds of the current generation.

I really hope Oprah will interview Lauryn Hill. she already gave an extensive interview in 2005 to Trace magazine. If she is interested in clearing all misconceptions about her (and I am inclined to think she is in light of her recent messages on twitter or tumblr), an interview with someone as bright, unique, mind oriented, and eloquent as her would be the best way to do so, and I really can't think of nobody else that Ms. Winfrey. Of course, we all know she is a businesswoman but she is also a humanitarian, and most importantly, someone with an original perspective on life, and even if she may have assumptions about Lauryn Hill, I am sure she would interview her with an open mind, and try not to focus on trivial things. And if I remember well, lauryn Hill was supposed to act in the Beloved movie produced by Oprah Winfrey in which she herself played, so they definitely have connections. I agree with jamesbarber, the interview programs like master class or lifeclass are amazing, i am sure Oprah has these programs in mind for an interview with Lauryn. I love a speech she gave for the lifetime achievement award she received in 1998, it's very inspiring and really similar to a speech Ms Hill gave during the same period: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaaPTUbaH_s : Oprah Winfrey www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc2TWP7oLAA : Lauryn Hill masdo: I agree with you, I don't understand this trend of people trying to compare Nicki Minaj and Lauryn Hill and claiming lauryn Hill is less talented, as if you can even compare those two. Often times they are youngins who were still in diapers during the golden age of hip hop. I think they are sick of people telling them that they missed the best times of hip hop and Lauryn Hill is an easy victim to them but they know damn well that Lauryn Hill and Nicki Minaj are not in the same lane lol and it does not even make sense to pronounce their names in the same sentence.
