Is it just me, or does something seem....off? I don't mean to sound cryptic or vague or anything like that, but Lauryn sounded a little zoned out in this interview....like her mind is somewhere else. I don't know the exact phrase or terminology to describe that demeanor, but she doesn't look happy there.

She's had this stern look on her face during interviews for years. This is nothing new. She hates doing interviews. I'm just thankful that she always gives insightful and well though out answers to each of those questions. She has a way of dropping knowledge without even trying. "I made a piece of music from a sincere place. I think that sincerity has no choice but to resonate with people.”

I agree that Lauryn has had this demeanor in interviews for a long time. I think she is very careful about the words she chooses and how she presents her thoughts which makes her a come across a little distant. I think her words have been twisted so much in the past (as has other artist) that she is very intentional about what she says. And then I think sometimes she gets tired of talking about the Miseducation. Personally, I love the way she speaks. It really shows the workings of her mind.

She looks fine to me. Like Puma said, she's usually pretty much the same in most of her interviews, or maybe this time, she could be tired. This interview was just one week after she had given birth. That big ol' sofa probably reminded her of how tired she was. She may have been thinking, "If I could lie down on this sofa for just ten minutes... Also, I've noticed that if interviewers are star-struck, they don't really engage the artist to the point where the artist feels relaxed, kind of like last year with Toure, dude looked scared during the whole interview-like he couldn't believe he was talking to Lauryn Hill. Yeah, Lauryn is one of those artist that will make an interviewer star-struck, but Lauryn loves to talk and share (Unplugged is evidence of that) there just has to be a connection or trust maybe.

Lauryn is too deep for most of these interviewers, IMO. I remember seeing an interview she did in 2007 with a female journalist after one of her concerts, and the conversation was very insightful. Almost too insightful. Lauryn talked about the journey of soul music and it's relationship with the corporate industry and black identity crisis, and the journalist looked lost. Like . I wish Lauryn would be interviewed by someone who is not smitten over her, or is at least skilled at hiding it. She's extremely intelligent, and these interviewers don't do her justice.

The interview was hardly challenging either, she said the same thing when mised came out over a decade ago! she looks bored to me! I think one of the best interviews she gave was in 2005 after the concert she did in africa, that was very honest and the interviewer knew enough about her recent stuff to know what to ask. BTW HOW HOT DOES SHE LOOK HERE!!!!! The was it's colored is kinda like Everything is Everything video, she hasn't aged at all!

I agree I love the 2005 interview in Africa and I also love the one she did about Unplugged I don't know where she was when she did that one but it was posted not too long ago. She's just so lively and completely open there.
