Lauryn was a natural. She probably would've evolved into a great actress if she continued in the film world. That's something I would like to see her return to; acting, and rapping to. Well, you know, apart from making music. Thanks for sharing.

God, I love this woman. It features an interview and clips of her Rock The Bells DC performance. I wanted to write it out because I'm sure we're gonna use these quotes sometime soon. I didn't know that they used the accompaniment for "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer as her accompaniment for "How Many Mics". She never ceases to amaze me.
Ms. Hill: For some reason, we have this line of thinking that doesn't allow us to think to connect to the source. We're always looking for someone external to connect us to the source. It's like that "Many River to Cross" where it's like Bob said " how many rivers do we have to cross before we can talk to the boss?" We have to start trying to find the orignal source energy...the source ideas. The point I'm making is someone got steel out of the ground.
But we have to start having enough faith and action to start inventing and start believing in our own creative ideas, planting our own seeds, and building our own platforms instead of always begging somebody else for some time. And that requires faith, it requires discipline and it requires stick-to-it-iveness. And that's what's needed. You can just start with something small. START!
Stop looking outside--you know--looking for somebody to do it for you. Really try to find ways to do it for yourself. And then when you do that, all those outside people that you're checking for, when you've forgotten about them, that's when they all start knocking on your door. It's very easy for people to become insecure when they have a place and they start to look at new talent as something frightening. And I think that what you have to do is, you have to create a platform that alleviates that tension so people can make more opportunity for other people. Because instead of the marketplace being a place of competitiveness, it should be a place of proper integration.
It's just...there's other people in other seats of power that need to get back in their seats. I'm one of them...the other people... they need to get back in their chairs so they can help create the atmosphere that's gonna get some of those (locusts??) off his back.

Well dang Since, I was just going to hit up the boards for a minute-now you got me watching videos and stuff when I'm supposed to be working. Lol, but yeah, what puma wrote-that's what Lauryn was talking about. I'm glad puma got it in before I did cause I did not feel like writing all of that I was going to be lazy and just skim it for you. Thanks puma! Anyway, Lauryn's interview is not long at all. She doesn't come in until about 20 minutes into the video. Now back to work...I better not come back on here tonight. You might have another assignment for us

puma can you explain the connection between Kiss Me and How Many Mics. Do you mean she mixes the melodies on her new version?

Wow. This interview was like 2 minutes, and yet it so inspiring. I'm telling you when she's makes a full comeback and starts doing propper full-length televised interviews she is going to ruffle quite a few feathers, and wake a few people up. Every word, every sentence, the content of what she is talking about is what is desperately lacking in the music industry. I'm telling you she is like a walking phophet.
I loved it when she said that some people need to get back in their seats of power, lol. I second that!

@james I loved when she said that too. She also said that she's one of those people. So we'll see what 2011 brings. Hopefully, Ms. Hill will reclaim her seat of power, but only if she's ready. The atmosphere has to be ripe for a change.

But she has a kind of truth, that she doesn't want to compromise.... And I find it very respectable to show as much integrity!

Funny bit of Trivia:
Lauyn aka Ms Hill does not allow gum chewing around her. This is a fact. I wonder could the last movie clip be why?

Let me fix that last statement. I should not say does not allow, but she hates gum chewing from what I've read. So, you will never see her chewing gum in real life. ;D
