Hey guys I just started this thread because I wanted to remind myself and others of why I originally fell in love with Lauryn Hill and her music. There's so much negativity coming from everywhere so let's just make this a positive thread. I love Lauryn Hill because when black people were still trying to come into their own she sealed it together. She created such a force of being black and beautiful and saying love yourself regardless of how brown/black you are and don't let people get you down. Her love songs speak volumes and everytime I play them I see the relationship I want to have. Songs like Nothing Even Matters and Tell Him and Just Like Water all move me like no other love songs. They're so deep and spiritual. My favorite song Selah...what can I even say about this it brought into my own and let me know I can be who I am and be proud of that and come out of the falseness I had been portraying for so long. Laughing at negativity just because my friends were doing it and mean for no reason Lauryn helped me to change that. I could go on forever but I have to go to work Let me know your favorite Lauryn song why it means so much and why you love Lauryn so much. I think we all need to be refreshed in our love for her. Participate if you want!

What i love best about Lauryn is her complexity, eccentricity, and pure genius and with that said we are going to hear more negative stuff about lauryn she has the ability not to conform to a money driven industry who will do anything to an artist(blacklist them) who is not giving them money. the more Lauryn do her live tours and have her music leaked online the industry is not getting anything from this. this is a new world and record labels are shaking in their boots because there is a whole new way for an artist now to make their own money. I know we are going to get new stuff from Lauryn but not they way we are used to buying it. Honestly this women has been around for 15 years and still people are talking about her whether its negative or positive. The output of her career has proven to be classic and resilient enough to matter for a long time. Genius people are not easy but you gotta love them and its fun to see what they'll do next
Artist who are now legendary but was and is difficult because of their genius
Nina Simone Michael Jackson Prince Grace Jones Miles Davis Sarah Vaughn Ella Fitzgerald Aretha Franklin

Why I love Lauryn..... I'll be short... 1. Her Voice.... There's no comparison! Her voice is so light and so deep !! So strong! She's able to rap and to sing wonderfully, she's able to pick the higher note then downto the lowest... She's technically a genius. So, what about her "new" rasp? It doesn't bother me... I would even say, I like it ! Her voice sounds more mature. It gives..., more than that, it SHOWS her soul, all she went through.
2. Her determination as a black feminine artist ! She's able to create her own music !!! She transformed these social constraints in strength and inspiration... (because there are still discriminations!!) ... She's both a model and an original character...

Everything that I love about Ms. Hill is in my blog: mymajesticpage.blogspot.com/Feel free to comment in the blog comment box and also post things that I might've missed. Also suggestions for my Evolution series would be cool too. Yeah, I know I'm shilling but I started the blog because I realized that people were a little bit ignorant of her talents besides The Fugees and The Miseducation album.

How long have you been following Ms. Hill? What's shilling? Shilling is me publicizing the blog for self interest. I've been a fan of Ms. Hill since The Fugees days. I got up the nerve last month to write a blog when the Nicki Minaj drama started. I was fed up with people thinking that they were somehow equals.

Ok, I figured that's what shilling meant (hahaha, 3rd grade context clues). Anyway, I was reading it some days ago, and l was impressed by how you were able to break down the different music genres that she transitions into in some of her new arrangements. That was your blog, right? I read so much stuff online that sometimes I forget. I will go back on and read some of your new stuff. I hear you about the Nicki Minaj drama.
