as far as I know: THE NATION OF ISLAM is a religious movement in the usa (new york) connected, of course, to the ISLAM and believing in ALLAH. Especially the black, urban community - at least those who convert to become a moslem - are its members. Minister Farrakhan is something like a leader of this religious group. Not only do they connect to islam but there are also strong references to 20th century african-american history with references to malcolm X and martin luther king jr. the fugees were often referring directly or indirectly to the nation of islam and minister farrakhan. though it is unclear how close they were/are connected. also lauryn hill referred to Frarrkhan on her Unplugged 2.0 rapping: "where there is no remission there cant be no repentence - and that sentence more serious than Vietnam, the atom bomb and Saddam and... Minister Farrakhan" BUTlauryn hill stated in numerous occassions that she is not a follower of a religious group (not rastafarian, not jewish, christian, muslim) BUT A FOLLOWER OF JESUSmore information on THE NATION OF ISLAM incl. some REALLY interesting columns and essays by the Honorable MINISTER FARRAKHAN can be found under www.noi.orgpeace!

Nation of Islam doesn't inspire anything good to me. It makes me quiver. Look what happened to Malcolm X when he discovered the great Elijah Muhammed did not exactly practice what he preached!!! As malcom found out for himself, and it cost him his life, it is useless trying to fight the white man in search of black or any other color supremacy 'cause that wouldn't solve the problem there would always be a dominating race and that wouldn't "equal rights". Malcolm realised that there should be equality and that we should fight at the same level one to one, honestly, not demanding your people to do one thing when your doing the exact opposite. I respect everyone's religious belief but when it gets fanatical and starts ruling everyday life it worries me. I think religion is destroying the world and it makes people weak. I don't let anyone threaten me witho no Allah, God or whoever's gonna "punish" me if i don't do this or that, I respect the fugees and Lauryn is my Goddess but because of her talent and her carreer, I agree with her way of thinking and admire her braveness to say it out loud. I just don't share her religious point of view, I think God helps those who help themselves.
