Review by Prin!ce (from Laurynet)
Before I start.. I just wanna say thanks to Allah for letting me have the experience that I had today.. it was so overwhelming and absolutely amazing. My face is still stunned.. & I'm overly happy!!!!!
Now heres why.
Six of us left our house at 9am in the morning thinking that people are gonna be queuing up really early.. when we got there.. NO-ONE was there and it was like 12pm. Doors opened at 7pm. So we thought, there is no way we are gonna wait 7 hours in the cold.. so we went back to this resteraunt that does Shisha and just smoked there.. and came back at 3. Again NO-ONE was there.. so we went and sat in StarBucks for 2 hours and came back at 5pm.. Once again... NO-ONE was there. & by this time.. we thought FUCKKK ITT... lets just wait 2 hours...
Graduallly....... people started coming,,, and the line was getting longer. We were right at the front.. obviously! lol.. so around 7:30pm they let us go in.. & we ran straight to the front. Me being the biggest fan of all of us Iin the group ran straight for the middle bit.. The stage was so close to me.. I was sooo excited..
Anyway at 8pm, a group called Elvis White performed. They were a bashment group from America, and they killed it! They had these two stripper type dancers that could dance mannnnnnnnnn.. it was sick. They performed No Woman No Cry... and some Sean Paul tunes.. and then went.
Then it was a break cause they started setting up the stage for Fugees... and after round 15 minutes.. this DJ started playing some grimy Hip Hop beats & everyone was like WHOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAA after every beat he dropped... & outta no where he mixes in IF I RULED THE WORLD.. & everyones thinking that Lauryn is gonna come out now.. but then he mixed it back to normal hip hop beats... and then again he mixes in the music for READY OR NOT.. & everyones screaming thinkin theyre coming out... but back to the beats again.. and eventually the music stopped and this spoitlight just came on the DJ and outta nowhere Wyclef comes under from the decks and starts doing Mona Lisa... & he's followed by Lauryn & Pras from the back after a bit,.. by this time all I can do is screamm my lungs out.. "L BOOOOOOOOOOOOGIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
After they did Mona Lisa... Lauryn was walking up and down.. & I screamed so hard LAURYNNNNNNNNNNN and she looked and I touched my chest and said I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, and she pointed both her hands at me and goes I LOVE U TOO.. & the people around me just started going MAD cause she was proper interacting with me.. and my heart was beating so hard...
Anyway after that they kept performing songs.. and it was soooooooo sick like each riddim was on point. No faults or nothing at all... & I had promised from before that I'm gonna give my TASBI (Religious Muslim Beads) to Lauryn... so everytime she came near me I was screaming my head off at her to come so I can give them to her.. and evnetually she looked at me and I pointed at the beads and then pointed at her... and she came forward and I reached my hand out and put the beads in her hand!!!!!!!! and she smiled at me and nodded as in to say Thank you.. I was like AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Everyone behind me started screaming when I gave it and was patting me on my back like.. & My friend managed to record the part where she's holding the beads around before she put them down on the side... I'll upload it when its sent to me!!! But I was sooooooo amazed that she actually came to take them...
Thinking that's made my night.. it was just about to get 10 TIMES better!!!!!!!!! A few minutes after giving my beads to Lauryn... Wyclef walked past me, pointed at me, cause I basically knew every lyric, & plus I just had given her the beads.. he started nodding his head.. and everyone around me again started screaming and patting me.. & here I am feeling sooooooo happy, I'm looking down tryna fix my lighter & the next thing I know I looked up and Wyclef has jumped down from the stage, is standing infront of me, and hugs my neck! and then he grabbed my hands and was spittin WHATS GOING ON!! ARMEGGEDON COMING YOU KNOW WE SOON DONE!! & I'm just spittin back 2 back with him and he lets go of my hands and walks away! and once again everyone around me is going mad. & this white man next to me goes.. "DO YOU KNOW THEM OR SOMETHING?" & all I can feel is adreneline rush!!! Sooooooooo much!!!
After that, they was perfoming more songs... was ILL!!! & eventually WYCLEF was performing in the crowed and everyone had their eyes on him.. so while everyone was looking at him, I looked back to the stage and saw Pras standing there with the DJ. SO I signalled to his DJ to get Pras, and his DJ nudged Pras and pointed at me n I was signalling Pras to come to me.. so then he puts his mic down and jumps off stage and he comes over and shakes my hand and says God Bless... & all I'm thinking in my head is.. I cant believe out of THOUSANDS of people in here.. all three of them have acknowledeged me like!! Was sooo amazed....
Anyway after that Lauryn did Ex Factor.. and did it perfecccccccccccccccccctly.......... sounded soooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooood...... so after that the Fugees start performing their songs again and I'm nearly in tears cause I was sooo happy that I just met them basically... and Wyclef walked past me and he looked at me so I quickly pointed at the sky and said GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!!!!!!!!1 & when I said that he jumped back down to me.. grabbed hold of BOTH of my hands put them to the sky.. and started bouncing them up and down with him!!!!!! I'M LITERALLLLLLLLLLY OVER THE DAMN MOON RIGHT NOWW CAUSE I'M THINKING THIS IS WYCLEF!!! & OUT OF EVERYONE HE KEEPS COMING TO ME?! I truly feel I was blessed by God today! so after that they stopped performing, and the lights cut out and I had my Allah chain on me that I was wearing around my neck.. & I kept saying to my friend next to me, I wish i could have given this to Wyclef.. and then all three of them come out again saying theyre gonna perform for 15 minutes more!!! & I'm thinking WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO this is my chance... so they start doing Cowboys... and I'm tryna get his attention but it really aint workin... and eventually he came near me and I screamed out his name and started waving the chain around... he leaned forward, grabbed my hand, put my hand on his forehead and took the neck chain and smiled at me! & he looked at the chain and smiled and put it up infront of EVERYOOOOOOOOOOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
FOR PEOPLE WHO WENT TO THE LONDON CONCERT TODAY, IF YOU REMEMBER WYCLEF HOLDING A BLACK NECK CHAIN that had a silver thing saying ALLAH on it in ARABIC near the end... that was mine!!!
He was tryna put it on but the clip of the chain is quite difficult, so he looked at me and start tappin his chest, smiled and put it in his pocket!! & here is everyone around me going madddddddddddddddddddd... AGAINNNNNNNN but no-one at ALLL could feel inside how I was feelin... I WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OVERWHELMED!!!!!
After that they went and I was soooo TIRED... cause I had been on my feet all day. & when we was walking out, the security guard stopped me and goes "I THINK THEY LOVED YOU MATE" and started laughing and I'm smiling sooo hard cause I felt soooo BLESSED & GRATEFULL for being able to go through that.. mayneeeeeeee!!!!!1
When we was coming back home, these three girls kept looking at me, and my friend with me is kinda sick with it and just goes to them WHAT THE FUK YOU LOOKING AT? lol.. and they was like NAH WE JUST WANTED TO ASK WHY THE FUGEES KEPT COMING UP TO HIM? & I was just like.,. I dunnooooooooo I'mm a big fannn etc etc...
That was just like a summary of it mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn so much to say but too tired.. if I can I'll do it anotha time...............
BUT TODAY EVERYTHING WAS SO PERFECT! THANKS TO ALLAH FOR EVERYTHING!!!!
14TH DECEMBER 2005 - FUGEES = ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
FOR PEOPLE WHO WENT THERE.. IF YOU SAW A BOY AT THE FRONT WEARING A TIMBERLAND TRACK SUIT WITH A WHITE COLOURED MUSLIM HAT.... THAT WAS ME!

Have to be honest - the sound was shocking and Lauryn Hill's voice sounded really tired and strained. Wyclef held it together tho so it was an epic gig otherwise!

Review by Louise (from Laurynet)
Wow Prince!!!! That's crazy! I walked past the queue at about 6 (we had seats so didn't need to get there early) and I was looking in the queue for anyone I knew, and I SWEAR I saw you jumping up and down like at madman right at the front! I saw Clef and Lauryn keep going up to someone in the crowd, I can't believe it was you!!!! Glad you had an amazing night...so did I, let me break it down...
Tracklisting (in no particular order):
Nappy Heads (rmx) How Many Mics Zealots Fugee-La Lost Ones 911 Ghetto Superstar Ready or Not Ready or Not (rmx) Manifest Ex-Factor Perfect Gentleman Killing Me Softly No Woman No Cry Take It Easy ( I was sooooo happy!) Cowboys The Score
I got in there at about 8 in the middle of Elvis White's set...they were quite good from what I could tell, typical poppy reggae group but the vibe was cool. After about 15mins, as Prince says, the DJ came on (I assume it was DJ Leon) and started dropping some HEAVY beats...his mixing wasn't great at first but he was dropping loads of tunes to get the crowd hyped (like 'All About the Benjamins', 'Up in Here' by DMX, the new Busta Rhymes 'Touch It') At one point he was playing Whisper by the Ying Yang Twins which, if you don't know it, is quite a quiet beat, and in the middle of it cut Lauryn's 'Oooohooohoooh' from 'If I Ruled the World'! The crowd went crazy, then he carried on the beat and cut the first bar of 'Ready or Not' into the track...the crowd went INSANE! HE did a few scratching tricks that I think others have mentioned from other concerts, put his t shirt over his head, whilst scratching, then took his shirt off, and the lights went down as he took a drink of water and sprayed it all over the stage...still scratching the record! I've seen better, but it definitely got the crowd in the right mood!
Then, as the lights went down, you could hear Clef doing the introduction from back stage...he came on first, all lively and wearing jeans, a blue and orange stripped zipper, and a navy jacket. He started singed 'Yo, mona lisa..' and the others came on....
THERE SHE WAS! She looked amazing...check out my photos but she was wearing a long red skirt, a yellow top under her beige tweed jacket, and a long thin sparkly scary...and of course the crazy afro! She was a vision on the stage, and she came right over to the side of the stage where i was sitting so I got a great view right from the start. She was all energetic, really putting the effort in and dancing around to the song.
(Oh yeah...Pras was there as well...but he probably wasn't necessary, he was good during the first few songs, and i thought people were being a bit harsh when the said he didn't do anything, but after a couple of tracks, he just sat in the DJ box most of the time!)
I'm not gonna go through each song individually, cos it's pretty much the same as other reviews, but i'll tell you about the highlights...
LAURYN - In every way, it was great to see her. She was as energetic, if not more so, than she was at the 1996 concert. I knew she was back, but even after reading everyone else's reviews, I was surprised by the transformation. She was running and dancing around the stage, she touched the hands of people at the front of the crowd (and I saw her assistants touching her as well when they talked to her - so that's one rumour dispelled) and was really interacting (see Prince's experience for example). She was loving it...and that really showed. (btw, there was a white member of the band and I could see loads of white people in the wings of the stage, so that's another rumour dispelled!)
CLEF - Ever the showman, he really kept the show going and was messing with the crowd a lot...he disappeared at one point (leaving pras on the stage alone who looked a bit lost! ) and then started singing Perfect Gentleman from the middle of the crowd. Everyone loved it, then he carried on singing, and during the girl's rap...disappeared again and reappeared on the balcony, about 10 seats away from where i was sitting!. He was great, I regained a lot of my respect for him last night. He did his Bush 'freestyle' and his 5 languages 'freestyle'...which the crowd really enjoyed.
PRAS - What a waste of time, he sat in the DJ box most of the night, during Fugee-La, Clef stopped the beat and said 'Hey, Pras, you look like you don't even wanna do your verse!'. It was just a part of the show to help them change the beat, but it summed up how he was acting all night...he didn't even bother to do his verse on Take It Easy, I really don't know why he showed up!
TAKE IT EASY - It was incredible! Clef went down to the crowd and goes 'Does anyone know our new tune, Take It Easy?' One guy obviously did, so Clef went over and said 'This guy knows all the words!' (are u sure it wasn't you Prince?!) and gives the guy the mic and he's singing 'I got moxy, I'm so damn foxy...' whilst Lauryn's standing on the stage laughing!
LOST ONES - I've got a video of this,so see the media section, she directed the whole song at Clef and pushed him at the start like she has before, it was a great, high-energy performance.
LAURYN AND WYCLEF - The interaction was great, they did a little bit of dancing together (kms!) but not that much...still, they felt like a group, not two individuals which I was really happy about.
LAURYN'S VOICE - The sound was good, tho the base got a bit high sometimes, but her voice was so strong and so beautiful...she made an effort on everything she sang, even the hook on Fugee-La, and when it came to Killing Me Softly and Ex-Factor, she really did kill them softly...it was breath taking! SHE IS BACK!
CHANGING UP THE TRACKS - they switched up the riddim a lot...they put Amerie 'One Thing' at the end of Doo Wop, 'Welcome to Jamrock' during Take it Easy and a lot of other beats into other tracks. They also did the reggae thing at end of a few tracks, like Cowboys for example.
THE END - Clef did his usual 'The promoters are kicking us off' trick, he brought a big clock onto the stage during Doo Wop and pointed at it to Lauryn. Then he went up to the DJ box and said, 'we're not leaving for another 15 minutes!'. Then dropped 'Too Bad Mind' by Elephant Man...a massive tune from last summer, and the crowd went mental, then they went straight into Cowboys and The Score, and that was it! I couldn't stick around too long to see if anyone came back out, but the lights were on and the crew were packing up the set, so I figured that was it.
All in all, an incredible night...check my photos, i tried to get some good ones for you...I came away as satisfied as i did in 1996, and I really wasn't expecting that!
