BEYONCE KNOWLES is determined to cope with her spiralling fame, insisting she will never "lose herself" like FUGEES star LAURYN HILL. The CRAZY IN LOVE star was shocked when Hill suddenly shaved her head and turned her back on the limelight, visiting tough Brooklyn schools with her guitar. And although she still respects the READY OR NOT singer's work, Knowles believes she is far more grounded than Hill. She says, "Her story is the most tragic. I mean, her record was genius. But drama and demands and the pressure and all of the people giving you so much access to so many things can be too much. "So couple that with everyone telling you you're so this and so that and so perfect and of course you can lose yourself. "I don't know what's going to happen to me but I know I'm more than a singer and I have so many other things in my life to keep me focused. I hope and pray that I stay as comfortable in my own skin as I am right now."

...Okay. I think people really don't understand Lauryn Hill nor do they give credit for the unplugged album which was genius without beats. There is nothing really tragic about taking a break and reexamining things. In fact Lauryn Hill is a more rounded artist without any pop strings attached and she IS BACK. Lauryn Hill can easily attain her previous success in a second. But I digress...you know the media permeated that response from B by asking her that stupid question. I really wish Lauryn Hill would come back with some music and shut up the industry and the media--- COME ON, MS HILL!

It's a matter of perspective isn't it. I would think Ms . Knowles' desperate attempt at staying relevant, when youngins' like Rhianna are nipping at her heels, is more tragic. I think having your a** out on national TV flopping around on the floor is quite tragic when God blessed you with a beautiful voice. Have you ever thought of just using the voice God gave you. I think it is tragic for a mother and father to pimp their child and to sit in the audience of these events when she performs routines more suited for your local strip club. She doesn't have much more to do other than take it all off.

I will give Ms Knowles the benefit of the doubt, because we all know journalist are always out to make headlines. Therefore, I will assume her words were taken out of context.

Well said 21, I mean, it really makes my stomach turn when I think of how exploited people with the talent of singing are. Beyonce has one of the most beautiful voices if not THE most beautiful voice I've heard. Too bad that gift is being abused. Jun, I agree wit you too... I'm not saying I do understand Lauryn Hill, cause I don't think any of us REALLY do... but people really don't understand her... It's sad that we all make judgements based on what we've heard from the media. But hey, that's life these days.

Oh yeh, and I wish people would stop saying she's crazy because she shaved her head, that's a dumb reason.

Yeah, well said 21. props to you for that. I guess Beyonce is trying to sympathise a little for Lauryn, There really isn't a need. I strongly thing Lauryn knows what she is doing and is just really trying to find the right time to get back in the limelight of the industry again. She knows there a demons out there to get her again, and she is probably still fearful of that. I reckon she doesn't want to get back into the industry and be blinded again like she was. (you know speaking the truth and being penalised for it) You know ultimately time can only heal, and as a true fan, (unlike Beyonce who once said she would like to work with Lauryn Hill more than anyone else) i will do that time with Lauryn. Patience is all it takes.

I am so glad you said that. I guys know the media, do you remember what they said about Lauryn that she was crying and saying she was crazy, well she said that but they brought it totally different.

while beyonce constantly tellin people she gets nervous on stage and answers questions to perfection, makin sure you only scratch the surface, lauryn just keeps in blunt real and doesn't try to make it sound nice. beyonce shooda kept that to herself. its like beyonce contardicts herself, the only reason she probably suggested that lauryn lost her self is because of lauryn doin something totally different from these POP N Blues cats. So because lauryn aint tryna rock blonde tracks to the back of her knees, she lost it? because she's givin free mini concerts, she's lost it? No, she's jus dedicated to what she do and she wants to fulfilled a purpose past sellin a record about an infatuation and make quick bux after throwin a tantrum on stage, that doesn't show dedication. Actually I heard from a very accurate source that she recorded it in 2 weeks. , and her father fears that the album won't sell, so it has been shelved.

I've read about on yahoomusic. Beyonce is totally insolent. How could she compare herself to a legend of music? Lauryn recorded a much better first record than Beyonce. That's pitful. I don't know what to write :/

Look, i feel when a celebrity acts all perfect and never shows another side of themselves that isn't perfect, like Beyonce and say an Alicia Keys you can tell they're not truthful. No one in this world cannot have something they want to talk about or express their opinion about. If you listen to Beyonce's music it's just about men, relationships or materialistic stuff. On the other hand, Lauryn is not materialistic and is brutally honest. I love Lauryn more because she isn't afraid to say what she feels, even if it's not all good. Like how she said on the Unplugged album, "it's reality". I'll support Ms. Hill all the way. Beyonce is just jealous she hasn't got the skills of Lauryn.
