They're just not my type of music. Just sounds like meathead frat boy bullshit or something. Not my style never will be. They have no influence on rap music. They can't rap. Seems like they were just watching Run DMC on their TV one day and decided, 'hey we can do that.' How they won in the best hip hop video category blows my mind. They aren't hip hop.

I can't believe what I just read,I'll just say that they are first white hip-hop group, and that they started their career before Run DMC,and even today, they are still creating great music, they stayed true to the game, much respect for Beastie Boys

They started their career before Run DMC yes I know...but they started it as a punk group. They didn't start 'rapping' til quite a while later. I'm sorry but I disagree that they create great music as I can hardly listen to it. I don't think that they were ever a hip-hop group... I think they may have passed as a rap group... but to me, it just ain't hip hop.

Yes of course D, I live for hip-hop...
First and foremost... The Fugees...Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, A Tribe Called Quest, Naughty By Nature, Missy Elliott, Timbaland & Magoo, Big Dady Kane, EPMD, De La Soul, Gang Starr, Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, Nas, Dilated Peoples, Public Enemy, The Notorious BIG, KRS-One & BDP, Kardinal Offishall, Dead Prez, Eric B & Rakim, Tupac, Juice Crew, The Roots, Kanye West, Jay-Z, NWA.
And if it counts.. I love hip-hop soul... (first and foremost) Lauryn, Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Aaliyah, TLC, Anthony Hamilton, Mary J. Blige, Destiny's Child, John Legend, Montell Jordan, Monica.
I'm not saying it's wrong to like The Beastie Boys... I don't care if people like them, I'm just saying.. I don't... I mean, some people will be surprised that I like Frank Sinatra. If you think he sucks and has no skill... so be it. But I like him. And I apologize for saying that the Beastie Boys aren't hip hop... in most people's eyes they are. I mean, hip hop isn't just the culture. It's also about expressing urself, they did it. But, some people might think some of the people in my list aren't hip hop. I'm fine with that. Music is music people. And I love music too much to be categorizing people and they music they make, and I'm sorry that I did that.

I just downloaded some World Class Wreckin Cru songs and I'd like to say thanks D for tellin me bout them. I feel shocked I didn't know about them... even more so when I realized that Dre and Yella are part of the group! ;D I recognize lots of the beats in the songs as they've been sampled on many songs I like.
