I saw that too. I hope it’s beautifully produced like her vocals on the official release of Coming Home. It’s also 6 minutes long!

The album is out in the UK. I don’t mean to be negative but I don’t like this version - there’s no real melody and she got rid of the chorus which for me was the beautiful part of the song. Maybe it’s just too abstract for me; it’s clear she produced this herself. Voice is good tho
Ah well it was nice to look forward to something but I can’t get into this version.

Her voice is very good! No have breathing at all. But their is no melody... no chorus... and she even muffled out the background singers... I don't know why she don't wanna release something with melody.

Ah. Yeah this was a missed opportunity for a real simple beautiful song. I was hoping she’d record it the way she had been performing it lately. Her voice is beautiful but feels a little too strong for the beat. And the chorus and the verse go so well together I don’t know why she decided to let it go. Maybe she only did one take or something. 😕

The good news is so far from the posts and articles I’ve seen written about it, it’s being received well. Only her die hard fans know of the live versions that’s slower and contain the full chorus and showcases those beautiful background harmonies. With this song, and the collaboration with Pusha T, she’s at least actively recording. Hope this means we will get a new album soon. 🤞

I hear a melody. The chord progression is noted by the plucked instrument in the background. When she performed the song on her guitar during that interview in Ethiopia back in 2005 she didn’t sing a chorus. I like that she added a few new phrases/ verses. Plus her voice sounds good on this recording. I hope this is a sign of good things to come.

I like the track! It’s not Thriller, but it’s good!

I like this and I like it more each time I hear it. The first ten seconds was how I imagined the song would turn out. The intro reminds me of someday we’ll all be free by Donny Hathaway. It also sounds similar to the feel of tracks like The Passion and The world is a hustle. I think I can even hear a drinks trolly rattling. My brain got tricked into expecting that low register highly modulated vocal. Well suprise ! That’s not what we have here and I like it.
I have done my usual listening to the song through different headphones and equipment. I even listened to the song from another room with the door closed, outside and in the car. It sounds good in all locations. The vocal really carries and the music too.
😁😁😁
