Aw hell not the rumor mill again!!! Guys!!! stop speculating, coz that just gets everyones hopes up, acting like ya'll know when she be dropping new shit!!! just staaaap ok. Get outta here with your he said she said mumbo jumbo. Speculations been running for years as to when she gone drop an album.. ''of cooourse she said she was getting stuff ready for a new album" how many years we heard that for now huh! until it's from officials, or the horses mouth, then I aint believing jack!! I agree. I have no expectations for a follow up album. Idk if she is scared or what but there are so many ways to release music nowadays, yet all we have is a few demos here and there. 2004-2006 was her time to make a come back but whatever issues she had, hasn't allowed it. I'm sure she has tracks stored somewhere we'll never hear and that's too bad but it is what is. She's a touring artist and that's what it is. If something comes I rather be surprised than to be waiting around forever.

I don't think anyone is speculating. It's a fact that Lauryn has been recording these past couple of years. Have you forgot the Spin magazine article in which Phil Nicolo have stated that Lauryn was close to finishing her album, and that she has already built up enough songs to release an album? Of course their have always been rumors, but we have never had actual proof of anything until these past couple years. One of my close friends from high school works for her, so I know personally she has been recording and have many tracks recorded. All most all those unreleased songs over the years are all studio recorded "Black Rage," Fearless Vampire Killer," "I had to walk," "Back and Forth ect."
So its not a question of Lauryn not having material to release, its whats holding her back. Also only one track thus far have been a Jam session and that was "African Mailman" from the Nina album.
We all want this album. But what makes it more difficult is we know she has recorded new music; but we haven't necessarily received new music. "Consumerism" and "Neurotic Society" are both songs she recored in like 2003 to a totally different instrumental back then, to what was released.
But like Phil Nicolo stated, its not the fact Lauryn doesn't want to release music, its more of the fact that she wants to be perfect.
Personally, I believe Lauryn hasn't released an album yet due to her issues with the IRS, and perhaps she want to have that cleared out before she releases her album.

*This seems longer on mobile lol* I hope she releases both a straight hip-hop/rap album (like blunted on reality/the score) and a follow up from her solos, can y'all tell I'm still banking on like a double or triple album? lol. For some reason, there are people who only classify her as r&b when she's an amalgamation of Black music (of current, TPAB, was the closest thing that came to this imo but others also sound like her vocal style of Mised rap singing , evolved but the style is there). She's not just one thing, but she can hit any single genre very well even though they are all interconnected anyway lol. Her Mised style was different than what was out, very distinct but familiar at the same time; it traversed hundreds/if not thousands of years of our musical history/composition all rolled into one album, add the quality and connection in its content, great arrangements etc and instant classic.
Even though rap, hooks etc existed in like the 1800s and 30s and then continued on, her style was different because she was doing like rapping and singing simultaneously/intertwined with no auto-tune lol; it's a hard blend to do because you have to make sure one mode doesn't overpower the other, on top of that she had hooks and ad libs in the back lol and they weren't typical hooks. Then there was the musicality, just a very well rounded album. And Her unplugged! (acoustic hip hop/rap) it was even more honest and raw, deeply introspective and reflective, really loved that album. From the days with the fugees to her solos, major impact on the culture and the community. Things mighta went left with Wyclef, but that group IS something special together; they also HAVE :-) a great style/chemistry and message (I gots hope y'all lol, like I said I don't care if she 60 lol) and obviously Lauryn herself is special.
I feel like we've only been exposed to a small fraction of what this sister is capable of---and look what came out of that!--, like seriously and I know it may seem like a daunting challenge to live up to the MISED album, but I think she has gifts/talents/knowledge we have yet to see or be made aware of, ya know? Man if she can do like a blend of all three album compositions/styles... got damn... that'd be something to see for sure lol. Iono, I just feel like there's a lot from her she's yet to give and uhh I'm really excited/anxious to see what else is there. I'm in heavy anticipation too, but I'd rather let her take her time; I think we're in for a real treat when she finally decides to release... :-)
I remember like reading somewhere she requested a theremin I think and I went to go look that up and I was like WTH, this is dope lol. I thought to myself hmmm wonder what this would sound like if she threw in like a fugue type sound, the sound would be kinda dark though. Wonder if she knows how to play the theremin.
You know what was interesting about the MISED album is that after all that ish with Wyclef some people were trynna say she was a hypocrite and I'm like you wanna explain to me how she's a hypocrite, because the damn title of the album says The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, she ain't telling you what she ain't all ready been through. I'm like THINK lol.
These were precautionary tales, life lessons she learned along the way that she brought to us and any solutions she found and she talked about other things too. I find that these kinda negroes just don't like accountability anyway, so it looks like "preaching" to them. It'd be one thing if she had been chastising before and during that album and living a different life, but that album and her unplugged album was partly about owning up to mistakes, correcting mistakes, learning from experiences, providing solutions, exploring topics, healing, forgiveness and trynna move on etc. Hypocrisy doesn't allow any room for error (a given right?, in other words if she were being hypocritical/preachy she wouldn't have mentioned any mistakes she's made ) as such no ownership of that errancy, especially if you are preachy. There's always a "pedestal" factor in the relationship. It's usually fake piety wrapped up nicely lol. If people are going to take a route that sets them up to be held to a higher standard than others, you need to have your ducks in a row, tall order, but you can always strive to achieve it, but you can't be preachy, you never know when you might make a mistake lol. Just be an example and own up to any mistakes. There are some people who naturally have a strong moral compass. Sometimes the lines blur between preachiness and simple truth telling, both can grate on people's nerves for two very different reasons lol
I think part of the problem is also having crystallized/hardened imagery, they don't allow people to see celebs as "people", I think though so long as truth and accountability are present in a person's work, life etc I think it will aid in shattering those "fixed" images, because even the most positive of images if not balanced will end up doing more harm than good because you're not allowing a person to breathe and grow and make mistakes and learn, ya know. Like I said ya know, imagery is important, but if it's not real don't put it out there and if there is no balance put out there to permit some flexibility it can actually do more harm, because lo and behold if you make a mistake right?
It's one of the things I really like about Lauryn and it's one of the things I really liked about the documentary. It allowed people to see "the person", each of them. They were honest and I think seeing that helped folks see that hey, yeah we're real people, we had this that happened and this here, but we still got love for each other, the culture and our people and we want to continue with that. I think that was very important. blame goes to Wyclef though. He was wrong for that shit man.
I'm curious if like her purpose is the music/message in the music and getting that out, or is her purpose linked to the music (like a catalyst/catapult) but it's something more or is it a combination?
Sucks I ain't really get to speak with her about stuff I truly wanted to talk about, still a little chafed with this lol. It would need to be like some serious sit down conversation stuff. Lauryn, I got questions/topics that I think you're the only person that I know of that can answer them/converse with about.
Anyway, I know I rambled lol

The Fugees were special together, I don't know about now. Live performances of old music would probably sell on nostalgia, but an album? Nobody wants to hear Pras, and that song Foxy made Lauryn sound like a grown woman trying to fit into her childhood clothes. lol
As for Wyclef, he is a narcissist. People like that don't change. If she plans to reunite with them, I just hope she drops a solo album first. Because if she reunites with them first, odds are we won't ever see that solo album.

Ima forever have hope lol Why y'all be hatin on Pras lol, he has a unique cadence to him lol. You can't replace Pras man. He's Pras! lol. He seems silly but serious at the same time, he adds like a certain flavor to the group lol. They seem like they were fun to be around as kids I'm hopeful we can get a solo plus a fugees album together lol. Every time I write that, I say to myself, I'on think that shit gon' work lol. It's just the idea that gives me excitement lol yeah 2005-06?? production wasn't too hot, but I still liked the songs/content lol As for Clef...whether he actually has NPD I don't know. I just know he needs to keep her name out his mouth until she says it's ok lol.
ETA: trolls always post as "guests" with provocative usernames (true2u is an exception to the rule lol) and they usually don't have well thought out arguments; they are void of any understanding of history and Black history in particular. Their arguments heavily lean towards silly, trite and uncogent conspiracies that concealed racist idiocy adheres to lol. Lauryn's music will be released on her own label.

i think the label waiting for Trump-related unrest to set in, then plans to use Lauryn music to fuel the fire.

I think the label waiting for Trump-related unrest to set in, then plans to use Lauryn music to fuel the fire. I don't know about an album. But the last time I heard acoustic was when Ms. Hill was in Canada on the night on the night of the election. Since then there has been: No: Rebel No: Peace of Mind No: Mystery of Iniquity
No: All falls now
http://instagram.com/p/BQPOLADjqdt Trump release the (re)fugee though even "vocab". The people are taking to the streets on their own I guess. It's party time.

Yo Oprah, people on this thread been speculating for years!!!!! Regaardless if she's been recording haphazardly now or in recent times, half hearted recordings have only come of them with no prescribed destination. To hell what Phil Nicolo says, if it ain't in bright lights and coming from official heads, then I aint buying it. You watch, in years to come everbody be wondering what Phil was taalkin bout in Spin magazine... Then wait 5 more years to regurgitate more recycled info. I don't think anyone is speculating.
