Wow,this is major. If King Salim is referring to Ms Hill this would probably mean that we will indeed be hearing a new album this year. I wouldn't be surprised if she does a D'angelo on us and drops the album without warning. I'm ready though....spiritually, mentally, and emotionally to receive the masterpiece she's been crafting!

I really want to be optimistic and believe that King Salim is talking about putting the finishing touches on an upcoming new album, but unfortunately I think he might be referring to the Nina Simone tribute album, just because of the talks about deadlines and one of the producers of the film saying how Lauryn's voice was raspy from rushing to finish her part in the album... "In the process, he revealed that she'd lost it while rushing to complete recordings for an as-yet-announced Nina Simone covers album" www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411477071/lauryn-hill-jazmine-sullivan-sing-nina-simone-songs-at-the-apollo-theater But who knows, we know she's definitely been recording for the past year and a half so she might surprise us all by dropping the album out of the blue. Either way, I'm looking forward to new recordings from Lauryn regardless of the context.

I also think that the last Instagram pictures taken in studios are about the Ms Hill songs for the Nina simone tribute album. But i think a ms Hill album is impossible in the next months. We know lots of songs are recorded, they work in studios during full weeks. An album after the Nina Simone tribute is possible.

Sony records are notorious for releasing anniversary editions for legendary artists who aren't actively making albums. I hope those aren't the types of albums they plan to release for Ms. Hill in the near future. 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' will have its 20 year anniversary in 2018. 'MTV Unplugged' will hit its 15 year anniversary in 2016. That could be the plan, but there needs to be a build up to it so it can really make some noise, so to speak. If I managed Ms. Hill, this is what I would propose to her and Sony over the next few years of her career. 2015 - Release EP or Mixtape with new material. Tour nationally in the US promoting the new release. 2017 - Release a tribute album to reggae. Ms. Hill can tour globally promoting her album as well as perform songs off her EP or Mixtape. 2018 - Release the 20th anniversary of 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' - including bonus tracks where Ms. Hill reworks the classics and also a DVD of the video clips and special features such as interviews and never before seen footage. There is so much they can use here! They have to be open minded about it. The traditional way of releasing an album doesn't work anymore. Anyone else have thoughts on what the next 5 years should look like? I wrote this post back in November of 2014. I'm staying true to what I wrote in regards to Sony releasing anniversary editions of Ms. Hill's catalogue. Ms. Hill has already recorded a song for Nina Simone's tribute album, which will be released in a few months time. It's likely that an EP will be released at some point this year with original material however, we should expect more live performances and tribute-style recordings in the near future. I am really happy about this because it's been a long time since we have seen Ms. Hill doing shows and recording simultaneously

...And I posted last summer that this summer Lauryn would be releasing something new, which she is. I believe the Nina soundtrack will hold me over onto the release of her EP, which I believe will be released in the same way the D'Angelo album was released.
Lauryn is touring this Fall, thus far the dates are spaced out just like they were during earlier this year which was full of studio recording sessions. I believe the next phase will be focused on her EP.

I don't talk much about Ms. Hill with my source; after all it's a long time friend, and Ms. Hill is not the focus of our relationship. However, I can tell you they are now hush hush in regard to their projects.
