ummmm by biggity she did not mean "big" saying biggity is just like saying "no diggity". My sisters and I do it all the time. We say todiggity day etc Tanikka has also said "briggity brat" idk y we (or Tanikka) says it but it's not an insult just hmmm a slang I guess u could call it (for lack of a better word). Well maybe thats what she meant, but biggity actually means conceited,or self absorbed. Just to reiterate she always uses that. I think this time the iggity on the end just made it a word by coincidence. I don't think she'd talk bad about Lauryn. She's never done that on her Twitter etc before. She's very nice and kind hearted from what I've observed.

To NJ Guest I am so worried too. She needs the voice and great presence to pull this one off. I know the haters will be watching waiting to criticise her makeup, hair, clothes and the overall performance. I am praying hard for this one.

i have a feeling she will do amazing but not everyone will hear or know about it since this event is not as publicized as, say, Coachella or Rock the Bells. She often does great in events that are less high profile such as the Michael J Fox benefit thing and the benefit for her old high school (both occasions where she sounded amazing), but the general public tend to only see, hear and make their judgments based on the bigger events she takes part in, like Coachella where her voice was unfortunately really strained and hoarse.
I hope I'm wrong about this particular show though.

When I know there will be reports of what I've done. She must be really nervous because she's aware of her past success and she knows the majority are waiting for the 90's Lauryn Hill (with the same voice and same music). Does anyone know if the show will be broadcast on television?!

Why are you all pointing the finger at others? You are already passing judgement on her before she ever hits the stage. She will be fine as she always is. She was invited to perform flaws and all; because, she is respected as an ARTIST. The artist in the Hall of Fame all had major flaws and were not perfect people. Aretha knows and understands Lauryn's struggles probably better than Lauryn does at this point in her life. She is there to honor Ms Franklin, and I am sure that is what she will do.

I agree with what you said, but I really don't see what you're having an issue with.

I hope I'm wrong about this particular show though. Good observation. I really hope she is taking care of her voice these days too. I want to hear Ms. Hill SANG, because the last time I heard her with a healthy voice was in Orlando, FL, which was 6 months ago. :-/ This event reminds me of the tribute she did for Curtis Mayfield in 2000 ["The Makings Of You"], where she sounded amazing. I don't think anyone is expecting the Lauryn Hill from the 90s - her reputation has changed. But she is an artist, and part of what makes her an artist is her instrument, which in this case is her voice. So I can't blame anyone expecting the singer in her to shine like the old Lauryn. If she isn't on her game, vocally, expect the critics to devour her, especially since this is a tribute to ARETHA - and/or top-notch soul singing. It's like paying money to hear a musical piano concert, and when the show happens, the piano is out of tune, and the pianist doesn't bother to tune it, but instead just keeps playing. I think that is part of the frustration people have with "Ms. Lauryn Hill", sometimes. She doesn't care about her voice...at all. :-/ Do you understand where I'm coming from?

soooo true!! remember the Lisbon rehearsal videos ? she sounded amazing then the same night at the show she was soooo hoarse. I think it has something to do with her being anxious and over rehearsing. but since this is a tribute I think she is going to respect original tempo of whatever she sings Which will allow her to sing better.

Do you think she'll do only covers? If she does, which songs do you think she'll choose? (Or which one would like to hear from her?)

I would love to hear her do Daydreaming and I would love for her to admit that she gave Aretha a hit in the 90s by singing "A Rose is Still A Rose" and possibly adding a rap verse.
