I really don't want to turn this into a bash Wyclef thread because we are supposed to be wishing him well because he got shot (or um) cut by some glass.
But anyway @guest21 & Since, I see what you all are trying to say, but we tend to have this misguided idea of romantic love. Love is not sick or manipulative or dramatic. Love is very simple.
"he was suicidal when he wrote 911." Lauryn: "and when I tried to walk away, you'd hurt yourself to make me stay."
In my opinion, all those songs were just a manipulative tool to get Lauryn back with the Fugees. When he finally realized that she wasn't going for his foolishness anymore, that's when he started bashing her in the media.
I'm going to get off my soapbox about love, but life has taught me that we, especially women, go through too much because we have this false idea about love.

ladona I agree with you. I am under no delusions here. I recognize the manipulation and the abuse. Lauryn has talked about the manipulation and control she experienced during her time with the fugees. I think Wyclef has shown here lately how sick he really is. I think he definitely has some issues. I think he really needs to step out of the spotlight for awhile. I don't ever want to see Lauryn work with Wyclef and Pras. I think they are dangerous. They are willing to do and say anything to stay relevant. They are playing a very dangerous game right now. They need to get their butts out of Haiti and sit down some where.

I'm so glad you guys are around to discuss this stuff because I never thought about all those songs being about Lauryn. Love can make you do some crazy things and remember she didn't just leave the music business, she left all of that too!! Changed her numbers and made herself impossible to get in touch with. Imagine constantly hearing your name in the media from this guy just because he wants to get your attention. It makes me wonder what really happened in that studio that made her walk out. I wonder how she responded to that Wanna Be track. He's also very manipulative so it could all be for attention.

u guys i think Wanna Be is about Hip-hop (almost sure of it) if you listen he says "society wants to blame you for their hurt" and "when I tongue-twisted universal language" "like Common I still love H.E.R" Common's song I Still Love H.E.R. is about hip hop

Common's "I Still Love H.E.R." is a song using a woman to represent Hip Hop. It just like Wyclef's verse in "Wanna Be" reminds me of the movie Brown Sugar. The character is using his love Hip Hop to write when all the time he realizes that his woman is Hip Hop to him. The same device is used in "Love of My Life by Erykah Badu. It's one in the same. The minute I heard Wyclef's verse I knew exactly what he was talking about. That's the first time that I heard this version of Wanna Be. It's completely mixed and Lauryn sounds much better.

@since Its a double entendre. He says, "see the illiest rappers spit your name in their verse, and society want blame ME for their hurt." You know ever rapper from Jay-Z. Talib, Nas and Kanye have name dropped Lauryn in their songs. He says society want to blame "ME" for their hurt. A lot of people blame Wyclef hurting Lauryn for her absence from the music industry. Therefore, robbing socity of her talents. He still loves H.E.R. (Lauryn) like Common loves hip hop.

ladona I have thought a lot about what you said, and I definitely misused the term "love" in our discussion. I should of substituted "love" with an "unhealthy obsession". You were so right my dear.

Thank you Guest21, that was nice of you.
I was hoping that I didn't come on too strong with my opinion. I can be pretty blunt sometimes when I feel strongly about something, and based on my life experiences; love just happens to be one of those subjects. Thanks!

Jerry Wonda speaks about his strong bond with WyclefGrammy-winning producer Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis has worked with his cousin Wyclef Jean since the beginning of their careers, and their bond is still tighter than ever. After hearing news of ‘Clef getting shot in the hand while visiting Haiti last month, he was the first person to get the call that everything was fine.
“When something happens to ‘Clef, I’m the first one that gets the phone call,” Wonda told Rap-Up.com. “He was in the hospital right there, and when the whole situation happened, he was like, ‘Cousin, I’m OK. Don’t worry. I’m good, I’m good. Everything all right. I’ll call you tomorrow, everything is good.’ I had to hear his voice, because this guy, me and ‘Clef, we go a long way.”
Duplessis, native to Haiti, recalls moving to the United States as a kid where he stayed with Wyclef’s mother and little sister. With his cousin, he built the infamous Booga Basement studio where they worked on the seminal Fugees album The Score and made history.
“All I just know is that we worked in the house together. We all used to sleep there, I’m talking everyone,” recollected Wonda, who now has his own Platinum Sound Recording Studios in New York City. “What I could tell you is just that the old days were lovely, and if I could go back again, I definitely would go back. But it’s a whole new era for me right now.”
With production on upcoming albums by Mary J. Blige, Melanie Fiona, Musiq Soulchild, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and more, Duplessis is also focusing on his Yéle Haiti Foundation, established with ‘Clef in 2005. Since its creation, the two have put thousands of children in school and rallied local musicians to participate in bettering the community.
“We got a phone call from the kids down there that said, ‘Please, Wyclef, come down,’ and of course, Wyclef was like, ‘Jerry, we going,’” he continued. “We went straight from the studio to Haiti to a place called Cité Soleil and sat down with kids and gangs and mothers and uncles—everybody, and [saw] what they wanted. ‘Clef was like, ‘Let’s do what we do.’ We went in to start a movement with a lot of musicians.”
The Fugees frontman tried to aid the country by unsuccessfully running for president of Haiti, but there’s no love lost for recent elect Michel Martelly.
“Right now, Haiti got a whole new president, which Wyclef did a wonderful job of helping. It’s a great movement,” he explained. “Me and Wyclef, we talk every day. He’s in Haiti, and I’m up here working with the Yéle. I’m the co-chairman of the Yéle Haiti. There’s a lot of good things. Me and ‘Clef, we still do a couple of shows when he gets a minute. He’ll come back from Haiti and go right here. That’s where we are. We’re family, we’re cousins.”

Wyclef intended to Lauryn Hill? ? if yes than you it said? I hope it does not mean to Lauryn Hill He's not being mean. Wyclef is asking Lauryn to come to Haiti. He wants those people in Haiti to believe he still controls The Fugees. He knew Lauryn wasn't going to Haiti.

ok thank you Ladona
I think Lauryn Hill did well not to mingle with the nomination of a president we do not know if it is a good candidate
but if she wants to help the Haitian people without mixing politics with a concert will be well
She is generous and his schedule was certainly too loaded may be in the future
