I know that now we all are really into this Lauryn comeback, new song, summer tour, rock the bells and so on, but since this is a fugees board, maybe we should post this cause there are some really priceless comments about his candidature.

i just don't see him as the type of person to run a country. if he gets elected, then it just shows that if you have a dream about making change, anything is possible as long as you work hard to achieve it.

maybe I'm little biased about this, cause I've never really liked him.
fugees had the magic. and he killed it. with his arrogance, jealousy and envy. he hurted lauryn. I believe he never wanted her to succeed. when she was going solo, he was sabotaging her and talking to all know producers & people in the music business: “You work with Lauryn, you don’t work with me.”
and I know that he had to do something with her alienation from music and the public.
and when lauryn was going trough some difficult times, he was insulting her, talking how she was bipolar and crazy. and that's something you don't do to your friend and bandmate with whom you were creating history even if it were true. even pras said: "you don’t wash dirty laundry in public."
that only talks about him, and how shallow he is.
he's an asshole. he doesn't care about people. he only cares about himself. he's now only using the weakness of people & situation of haiti to present himself as the savior, the man who will bring the better future. you see, the people with no hope, vulnerable people are easiest to manipulate. he probably understands that he has no more career in music. no one wants to hear his music. his latest album was flop. and I remember reading that he was (still is?) in some serious debts. and I mean serious. so you do the math.

and dont be naive and think that haiti is poor country and there's no way he can benefit materially from it. he will control the millions of dollars from charity, practically he'll have free hands to do whatever he wants.
I'm not saying that he maybe doesnt want help that poor people, but he wants to help himself FIRST. he's doing that for himself, his ego, his benefit, not for the people.

i really dont like him. and I believe nothing good can come from it. and even if his intention are good (but i believe they are not), what are his qualifications? imagine bono being president of the world, lol

Petra I agree with you completely!!! His a complete not a very nice person. Rohan Marley said he dissis Lauryn in the media, but begs her to come back. When all his fundraising was going on, he was saying how he wanted the Fugees back together etc.. how can he say that after all the shit he was saying about Lauryn? I just hope Lauryn gets it together and breaks records again.

To be honest, this article makes sense. He loves his native country which is certain. But in order to be the president of Haiti, that passion just isn't enough. I wonder what other crazy idea he is gonna come up with next

I wonder if he can ever redeem himself as worthy of this position in the future. I bet he really does want to do a lot more for his country.
