the fact of the matter is Lauryn Hill is such a rare find: dope emcee, soulful vocalist, postive lyricist that barely curses, if at all...
so now that she's missing in action, we are search for someone to fill that void... unfortunately if they can rap, they can't sing, if they can sing, they can't rap, if they can rap and sing, the content is negative or too profane-- Lauryn is just Lauryn-- unmatchable...
We just need the real Lauryn back making great songs again, because hip hop and music itself needs it!

You know...hearing that part where she broke it down on "ex-factor" (sounded beautiful) let's you know that she CAN do the old Lauryn. I just don't think she wants to.

Pras didn't say nothing wrong. Obviously the only thing holding up another Fugee album is Lauryn. It is what it is. I am a die hard Lauryn fan and a she's a major musical influence on me, but something is STILL not clicking with her. In the meantime we just gotta stand by and see what happens.

One thing you gotta say. People love Lauryn. The label knows they have a legend. That's why they will wait patiently for new music from her. That is a status that is hard to attain especially after one solo album. I can't wait for the album...whenever it comes.

not really... it's not the same thing. read the articles. Beyonce and Mary's responses were about two different things. And to be honest with you. Not all of us dogged beyonce for what she said. The media made her use Lauryn in that light by thier line of questioning, but I don't think Beyonce meant any malice toward Lauryn. She was merely stating she won't let the stress of the spotlight affect her, albeit a little blindly stated because she didn't know what Lauryn went through personally, only from the outside looking in. Mary J. was stating that the wigs, the fashion, the way she dresses is how SHE does things and that does not make her any less real than someone who wears thier hair natural or whatever, hence saying "I'm not Lauryn Hill nor Jill Scott". She mentioned Lauryn Hill because that's kind of become her mantra. She could have said India Arie and there wouldn't be any discussion here about it. Mary has mad love for Lauryn Hill. They've worked together. And she too was asked a question by the media and answered it the way she answered it. Anybody looking find negativity in her response is just looking for negativity. It's obvious that most people won't really know what Lauryn was going through because they have thier own struggles to deal with. Mary was stating her individuality. That's what I think. Be blessed.
