Honestly, it just shows you what people want. They want someone who is marketable. Kanye, 50 Soulja Boy are all appealing to the audiences. Especially to the teenage kids out there. There music is basic, and kids get that. I don't think they want to hear 'some kill for the bill, grind for the bill'. They just don't get it. I'm speaking on the majority though. Some kids like that stuff, but only a few. Audiences seem to connect to the people out there a ot more than Chamillionaire, Freeway and Clef. Unfortunately, there isn't such craze in Wyclef as a solo artist. He sells when he teams up with other artists, like Shakira and T.I. because people are interested in them as people. I have to admit, if i were to buy music today, the person singing as a person will influence what i will buy. It's just the way it is.

But its weird like Chamillionaire sold 1.5 million records last year and now hes lucky if he gets 300 000. And clefs single is number 12 at hot 100 and thats big. But the album is not doing so well.
But i think its hard to go platinium anymore there are only few rappers that can do that every time like jay z or nas. now you are lucky if u get a gold record
And 50 is not gonna sell 10 million records like last time. kanye is gonna sell about 3 million records and that is gonna be the best selling rap record this year
you dont see anyone selling 10x platinium anymore

Yeah, that is very true...but that is because music is not being made like it used too. I don't know why, but there is no originality anymore.

I don't think the internet will stop good music being bought. I mean, people are buying heaps of Kanye, Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige. I think hip hop is selling a lot more than other genres of music, so it should be sold. Especially when you have the internet, you can give exclusives and provide more info out there for yur fans so they will buy your stuff.

Wyclef's CD Sales are growing again! Went from #94 last week up to #64 this week! Let's hope this trend continues...
