Wyclef Jean has just inked a deal with HBO to star in and produce a comedy series loosely based on his life.
The Fugees frontman will also help pen the project along with writers Seth Rosenfeld and Danny Hoch, and is taking on the duties of writing and producing original music for the series.
Jean's move into acting is not the first. The rapper appeared in four episodes of NBC's "Third Watch" last year, and also has roles in current indie features "One Last Thing," which screened last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, and "Dirty," set to debut at next month's AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival.
In related news, the Fugees trio -- Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Prakazrel Michel -- have been working in the studio for nearly two months on new music, according to their label, making their rumored reunion official. The group has even leaked a new song titled "Be Easy."
The Fugees are also planning a European tour, which will begin November 30. U.S. tour dates have yet to be announced.
