I thought since we havn't heard much stuff come from the real Fugees group we'll all share our thoughts on three other artists who could form a trio and maybe be as successful as the fugees. It's just a game to get to know artists and their music. I'll give my three artists who i think will be an interesting trio.
Chris Brown, Ciara and Bow Wow
Now, they're all popular so there will be no trouble in marketing the album or songs. I think Ciara and Chris have cool dance moves which they could combine. Bow Wow can have the cool rap verses, while Chris sings out the verses. Ciara can kill the hooks and sing the verses as well. Or Ciara can be the lead on a few songs. It will have a good flow since both Ciara and Chris can sing, and then Bow Wow will rap. Ultimately they can make a cool trio...and by the way Ciara and Bow Wow had a relationship together, a bit like Clef and L (that's what we think). They may be a little too similar to the fugees, but they could definitely do it

Robin Thicke, Joss Stone and Saul Williams, and they could have a song called "We will stone you thick" , and their group name could be "Rojoss Soul"

Actually thats a better answer than mine ( as mine was silly ). But ok, in terms of a group if the artist line up was similar, L would be played by Estelle, Santo Gold or Ms Dynamite, Clef could be Akon or Saigon and Pras could be Talib Kweli. Bam! That would be hot.
Or maybe Mos Def and Talib should team up with Jean Grae and form BlackStar with that line up. If only she sang though.

No offense, but Ciara, Chris Brown, and Bow Wow would not be a good group. They're all cookie-cutter artists. Teenagers would eat it up, but it wouldn't be anything that would remind me of the Fugees. If you want something like this go buy that Bow Wow/Omarion Face Off album. Bow Wow is a terrible rapper...And none of them have ever proven to be very creative which was one of the Fugees best assets. Ciara isn't anything that special(Especially contrasted with Lauryn), Chris Brown is a better dancer than singer, and Bow Wow is just plain wack. 90% of all rappers out there can spit better than him.
Bottom line is that no female is spitting, let alone singing, like Lauryn these days.

yeah... Lauryn is in a class all by herself. That's the wildcard right there.
You got chicks that rap and sing but they curse too much and talk about sex... You got dope female emcees that can't sing (and they curse too much). And you got dope vocalists that can't really rap. LAURYN, COME BACK! HIP HOP NEEDS YOU!

Black Eyed Peas
Will.I.Am being Wyclef, the brains and the producer behind their respective groups, Will is even being compared to Clef right now.
Fergie being Lauryn Hill, the superstars of the groups, although Lauryn has more talent in one finger than Fergie does in her entire body, nonetheless they have (had in Lauryn's case) the spotlight on them.
Applede n the other dude = Pras, hypeman basically. But honestly I always thought Pras had potential to be a good rapper and blow up, he did with Ghetto Superstar and Blue Angels but he could've had a much better career.

Yeah, i know no one could ever do what the Fugees did, but it was just interesting to see what we could come up with. I mean 3 totally different artists as a group could be interesting.

I totally agree...and also not to mention the outstanding solo career of fergie and will.i.am which resembles lauryn and wyclef. There is always something fresh about a group of great musicians becoming a group. It's like every single song is a collaboration and is put into an album. It's magic when it's done properly, but its a disaster when its not done well

It's magic when it's done properly, but its a disaster when its not done well I don't often comment on messageboards, but I couldn't let this one slide on me. When it comes to comparisons, one have to draw the line somewhere. BEP and Fugees were similar once in music, but that was before the Fergie days. In 1996 even De La Soul had that same kind of sound. In 2009 there's no way any current BEP fan would recognise the songs they made before Fergie came along. Even 'Where is the love?' is a huge difference from any of the hot garbage they frequently bring out now. Bettter yet, a song like 'Where is the love?' would not got any airplay in 2009 considering the rapping of those 2 nobody really knows their names and the lack of repetitive mindless hooks. This is not a racial conspiracy theory or anything. The fact is that the BEP has a great catalogue before Fergie, but they were of no significance until they signed a token blonde. The moment they became famous each song made there after became dumbed down to a retarded level. Yes they are hugely succesfull and yes their beats are catchy as hell, but they are in NO WAY like the Fugees. [Sarcasm]Listen to any random lyric of Lauryn on 'The Score' and tell me honestly it compares to something as innovating as the word BOOM being repeated several times in a sentence.[/sarcasm] Therefore comparing somebody as talented as Lauryn Hill who is worldwide respected for her singing voice and who can give any current mainstream rapper easily a run for his money to a singer with limited vocal abilities (be honest) who happens to be doing Hiphop by default, is beyond my comprehension. On a side note: The careers Wyclef ever tried to help no matter how great the talent involved failed misarebly with the exception of Destiny's Child. Will.i.am is a golden child producer and his name featured on your song is sure ticket to succes. (no matter how small the talent involved) Also, despite the current mental state of Lauryn Hill, she always had class and style. Fergie peed between two speakers. Nuff said.
