Absolutely. I actually think hé is secretely in love with her or jealous of her not-self-proclaimed legendary status . He talks about her all the time. I remember the day of the Dave Chapelle Block party, during the days of the okayplayer board, people were so happy that the Fugees reunited. He kept saying it was a non event, how the fugees were not really a band and played over tapes and how having Erykah Badu and Jill Scott sing together on You got me was more important... He's a moron and an attention sleeper. I think for the most part the people that complain the most about Lauryn are the ones who care the most. We all want her to win but she must also want it herself as well. There are merits to both sides but it's not good for Lauryn to polarise her fans this way. Questlove, one of Lauryn's biggest advocates, waded in on the issue. Not sure these are his exact words but interesting nonetheless. www.okayplayer.com/news/questlove-lauryn-hill-lateness-atlanta.htmlPersonally I think that court case really did a number on Lauryn and may be the source of some of her internal strife and anxiety. Questlove is bipolar himself, and need to go have a seat with them wide hips. He seem to have an opinion about everybody. He shitted on Lauryn when Amy Winehouse Back to Black came out.

First of all I agree that Questlove is annoying and needs to have a bunch of seats. A lot of artists over the years have had him pimp out their name for attention (Lauryn, Prince, Amel Larrieux, etc.) and he rarely has something productive to say. I think the bigger Jimmy Fallon audience and Okayplayer (which he owns) doing better now in the social media age have gone to his head. Not everything he says about Lauryn is unfounded, but it's certainly way out of line and nobody asked him... he wasn't even at the concert. I'm willing to bet she refused to work with him back in the day or sign an autograph or made him call her 'Ms Hill' or something. Lol. But anyway..... the 'aligning energy' thing is a bit eyeroll worthy at this point, I have to be honest. :/ I do know where she's coming from, but when you've been touring full-time for 2 decades with largely the same material and are 3 hours late, 'aligning energy' doesn't really cut it enough for me. I understand that reasoning for artists who have experienced something difficult (like when Courtney Love and Hole had to go on tour pretty much right after her husband Kurt Cobain had killed himself and she was a crying grieving drugged out late mess at shows), or if the concerts are some amazing spiritual experience (D'Angelo's Voodoo era shows, for example, where he was often a little late). But 3 hours late is frustrating for everybody and that excuse just doesn't hold enough water. It's really worse that (I think) she was cut off in ATL because of the noise restrictions, and the fans have reason to be mad given they only got a half hour show. It's annoying to me as a fan because she was doing so well… her voice has been back, critical acclaim for the recent shows, awesome new songs, the addition of dancers, no longer spending half the show with her back to the audience because she was busy gesturing for her band to play louder and louder… especially her acoustic tour was phenomenal. But she KNOWS about these curfews, and to be so (SO) late, knowing full well your fans who paid huge bucks to see you are only going to get half an hour of concert is IMO unforgivable. The 'modern Nina Simone' thing isn't as flattering as some people make it out to be, being difficult is not always going to fly smoothly just because you're an amazing talent. On top of that the video leaked of her flat out lying to a fan about her driver being late... she deservingly got called out by him, saying he lives across the road and heard her soundcheck four hours ago, to which she came up with a different excuse. I will always love Lauryn but frankly that was a little disappointing. This has been a criticism for years now and she's going to have to do something about it before it starts messing with her coins. I hate to bring money into this but her reputation becomes more and more tarnished every time this happens. I do think she gets more flak for this sort of thing than other artists like Erykah Badu who is often late, but Erykah puts on a big show, interacts with the fans all the time (even on social media) and releases a lot more music so people are more forgiving. This time around, a huge deal was made of it... people all over the place were shading her, from The Breakfast Club and radio, to The Shade Room and Lipstick Alley and many communities. She needs to find some compromise. Perhaps tell people you're going to start later on? Get another support act to fill in more time while you prepare and align your energy? She could even put on a screening of 'Concerning Violence' or something to fill that big space while she gets ready. If I sound harsh, it's because (like others have said in this thread), I want her to win SO much and always root for her SO much. But it's been so many years of this with very little positive return and it does wear on the patience.

Majority of all ARTISTS ARE REQUIRED to perform 1-2 hours AFTER the stated time. She was not 3 hours late. And No artist stays after soundcheck. You can't tell people how to do what they do. lol, she's been playing "hate on me" in her shows and rightfully so because people believe any and everything that's thrown out there. Her coins will be fine, she sold out her her next concert a couple days later lol. She ain't in it for the money.

There's an interview when he talks about how Lauryn during the common video she directed cut him and a few other people out the video. Lol I think that may be where it started. Or maybe they just had beef with the figures. Also I remember when he played with Lauryn during another performance, he spoke about him wanting to splay like he had 4 arms. Lol imagine Lauryn demanding quest to play better. I'm sure that hurt the ego.

I defend her all the time but you were on point. 200% agree. And this is coming from someone who read a book while waiting for her the last time. The problem is people take things they don't understand and apply their own interpretation to it and then sit there and judge based on that, which is not fair.
