Can somebody explain to me Lauryn's style? Is it considered fashion forward? That pink is such an eyesore lol it's "springy" lol, along with the "green."

All the footage has been taken down from Facebook After watching her perform 'Lost Ones' at BET and seeing the crowd of all ages just vibing, it made me pause and take a moment to respect the fact this this woman was not only so far ahead of era, but also people who shared her age. Lauryn wrote the lyrics to songs like 'Lost Ones' and 'Doo Wop' at 18 years of age. Can you all remember what you were like as an 18 or 19 year old, the way you spoke, wrote and expressed yourself? I'm 26 years old now and gosh, looking back at myself as a teenager, I couldn't string one sentence together to save my life!! The concept of love, life, spirituality and womanhood is something adults 30 years and over can't even write about or express. Damn! Long live Lauryn Hill

Checked out the audio grab of the new song. I like the song but it was the right call to pull it from the broadcast. Ms Hill was struggling with her voice and mostly in a different key to band. Good call.

Lost One's was on point and she looked beautiful. #blackdontcrack
From what I can hear on those clips of Back and Forth she sounds good to me. An album release must be close.
Hopefully she is the one that wanted her performance cut and they didn't just screw her out of promoting a new song.

She always seemed a little older than she was. One of a kind!

Good call. She was not struggling with her voice. Some individuals on Instagram who were in the front row posted clips of her performance with the new song an hour before show time, and her voice was as clear as day, when she was singing this new song. There was no vocal struggle. The video clip that showed up late last night, in which I ripped the audio was recorded far from the performance, and did not capture everything.

Anyway, with this new song... I think I'm really starting to see where Lauryn is right now musically... Its obvious she's influenced by African musicians more than ever before. She's sampling Fela in her shows. Not too long ago some radio podcast was posted on here in which some rapper stated he knew someone who worked with Lauryn and how she would tell them to play Ethiopian music. This new song is heavenly African. Most of the songs in her performances these days have a heavy Afro-Beat to them.
When Chris Shwartz said that her new album will be more musical.... I feel that by that statement its also gonna be more worldly. When you look at African American music today, everyone is influencing each other, while using European sounds to make them commercial. Lauryn is obviously going another route.
We can watch the little clips on Youtube of performances and stuff, but that performance of Lost Ones really showed Lauryn knows what she is doing...
I'm loving her new sound

Good call. There was nothing wrong with her voice. She was not "struggling." The performance was captured from far away. Like someone else mentioned, hopefully it was her call to pull it, otherwise the only conclusion that I can come to is that she is "too black and maybe spiritual" for bet and we all know bet is not black owned anymore. Everybody is WAITING for L to drop. Ppl like to talk, but they secretly love and respect Lauryn. Additionally, she has a lot of respect in the game, a lot. She's done a lot that many ppl don't give her credit for. Someone mentioned Lauryn writing "lost ones and doo wop" at 18-19, I did not know that, WOW. I can see it, during her fugee days she was spitting about a lot that only adults knew.
