Wow I always liked Nina Simone but recentley iv'e been listening to her and watching her DVDs and now i dont like her I LOVE HER!!! I can really see why articles compare Lauryn Hill to her, Nina was also a very erratic performances which would reflect her mood. She was also known for being a very difficult artist, and sadly she seems more popular now she's dead than when she is alive. she is truely an amazing artist and i have never seen anything like it. I reccomend people to get her CDs and DVDs especialy. . Nina Simone live at montreux (Best concert DVD i have seen in years) . Nins Simone The Legend {A documentary about her life is fascintating} . Nina Simone live { A DVD with 2 TV concerts both really good}

I remember creating this thread years ago when I heard about Mary J Blige being in talks to star as Nina Simone on screen. ( fugeesonline.proboards.com/thread/4139/mary-blige-play-simone-screen) Over time, this role eventually went to Zoe Saldana. Nina Simone fans were not happy. The film is by no means a documentary, rather a drama that is centred on a part of Nina Simone's life. I have always been curious as to why Lauryn Hill was never a part of this project to begin with, either as an actress, producer or performer. I can now see why. It is due to the fact that the Simone family did not have any creative control over the film 'Nina'. They aren't even affiliated with the film and perhaps do not want this film to be seen as a true depiction of Nina Simone and her legacy. I read an article in Rollingstone online today ( www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hear-lauryn-hills-sultry-nina-simone-cover-feeling-good-20150617) and I can now verify that Lauryn's work on the 'Nina Revisited' tribute album is going to accompany the soon to be released documentary titled 'What Happened, Miss Simone?'. This documentary has been produced by Lisa Simone Kelly, Nina Simone's daughter among many others. This documentary features archival footage of Nina Simone and is not affiliated in any way to the film titled 'Nina' which will star Zoe Saldana. I hope this information can help the fans differentiate between the two projects. I believe that this documentary is more likely to depict Nina Simone's true presence, purpose and message than any other on screen project. More Info: www.imdb.com/title/tt4284010/
