according to this article: www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2006-02-05-fugees_x.htmNEW FUGEES SONGS TO PREMIERE TONIGHT!Posted 2/5/2006 11:14 PM First there was a surprise appearance on last year's BET Awards. Then came a single, Take It Easy. The band played a series of dates in Europe. All three members, particularly Hill, have had substantial solo success, and their reunion raises questions about their long-term compatibility. "There's always tension, because we're all individuals," Pras says. "You put brothers and sisters together in a house for 11 or 12 years, you're going to have fights and breakups," Wyclef says. "That's not a Fugees thing; that's a life thing. This is the only band I can think of that has the group thing but also has three strong individuals that are well-respected in their own right for what they do." Though no title or release date has been confirmed for a new Fugees CD, three complete songs will become available tonight exclusively through Verizon Wireless' V CAST network. The group plans to introduce other tracks on the network."It's so important for artists to utilize new technology as a creative medium as it becomes available," says Hill, who has remained largely elusive since her solo debut, 1998's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. "We're living in the modern age now," Wyclef says. "I call it the Year of the Matrix. Back in the day, you had these mixed-tape circuits where if you wanted to get (unreleased) music to your fans, you could go through DJs. Now all our fans have to do is go to their phones, and they'll be the first ones to hear something. And we're not talking about a ring tone here. We're talking about downloading a whole song, or a video." The Fugees will launch their V CAST arrangement tonight with a concert at the corner of Hollywood and Vine, for which all 8,000 tickets were handed out free to fans in the Los Angeles area. "There will be classic joints," Wyclef promises, in addition to some new material, including a song called Foxy.Wyclef says he and his bandmates "will always have individual projects," but he adds: "I don't look at this as a reunion; I see it as another Fugees record. "Groups have to hide behind a lot of things. With us, it's obvious what's going on. You're going to hear it in the music, and I think that's what makes people still care. Next thing you know, another Fugee might snap — this band is very unpredictable. "But it's very real. Write the book in 10 years."

Review by MadameZenobiah (runboard):
Awesome!
Definitely some tension between Lauryn and Wyclef going on (some of it was playful, some of it was...um...). At one point, Wyclef jumped into the crowd as they started Ooh La La La, I believe it was. Lauryn tried to gesture for Wyclef to get back on the stage but he wasn't hearing her so she told him to get on stage and 'do it right.' Clef said 'I ain't getting on stage! Ms. Hill' Lauryn was like 'get on the stage.' He ended up getting on the stage.
Then she performed Lost Ones! Wyclef stood near her and she PUSHED him out of the way and started the first verse, adlibbing, "I was on the humble HE (pointing to Wyclef) on every station!" So, I guess it's official. The song is about Wyclef.
Then later, Clef said he was 36 and if he was a old 36 year old man jumping around the stage, the youngstas in the audience could give some energy in the crowd. Lauryn joked that Clef wasn't 36, more like 46.
Pras seems like he's lacking confidence. He doesn't come close to the front of the stage as much as his counterparts. Wyclef and Lauryn always feel the need to just about take over his verse whenever he's rhyming...strange.
Lauryn's voice was beautiful at times, screechy at others but we already know this. When she chose to not scream at parts during the songs I stood in awe. She definitely seems like she's ready to comeback and has a lot to prove. At the end of the concert she said to the crowd, "It's good to see you--it's GREAT to see you." She really seemed to be enjoying herself.
Guess who I saw lingering in the BG: Rohan Marley!!! They're definitely still on. Celebs I spotted were Saul Williams, Ananda Lewis (a huge Lauryn fan), Dwayne Wiggins, and Warren G.
That's it for now.

Fugees Kick Off Grammy Week With Street-Party Concert02.07.2006 2:32 PM EST The serious Lauryn makes way for the return of L. Boogie — for one night, at least. HOLLYWOOD — Hill joined her Fugees teammates Wyclef Jean and Pras on Monday night for the group's first full-on concert in almost 10 years. The Fugees kicked off Grammy week with a free outdoor show that, owing to its location smack in the middle of the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street, shut down part of Hollywood on Monday night. And the biggest story coming out of the show is the redefinition, if you will, of Lauryn Hill. Onstage, she didn't seem to be the post-Miseducation Lauryn we've come to know: the serious and detached Hill that many, from 50 Cent to barbershop observers, might have deemed a little odd. The Hill onstage last night was definitely L. Boogie: the Lauryn who, years ago, was not only one of music's most captivating singers but also one its most dynamic lyricists, standing right behind the likes of Jay-Z and Nas one of the best MCs of the then-new millennium. But then she disappeared on us, popping up briefly and erratically over the last six or so years. Thus, even though the Fugees have performed together several times over the last couple of years (see "Fugees — Yes, Even Lauryn — Reunite For Dave Chappelle's Block Party" and "Destiny's Child Give Lap Dances, Fugees End Feud At BET Awards", it seemed surreal to see all three onstage. For the first time in years, it felt like there wasn't a wall around Hill: She really seemed to be enjoying the music, being in front of the crowd and being onstage with her bandmates. L. Boogie danced, rapped and sang — and the only person saying the word "crazy" was her. I'm not crazy," she insisted during a between-song break. "I'm super-smart. I can't be bought. I can't be bribed. I am not a machine and I give my people the truth. It that defines crazy, then I'm crazy, blood clot!" Hill then started pointing to her heart and told the crowd that life started getting very serious for her around the time a particular song came out. The Fugees' band then started playing the lead-off track from Miseducation, "Lost Ones," as the crowd jumped. "It's funny how money change a situation," she rapped. "Miscommunication leads to complication/ My emancipation don't fit your equation/ I was on the humble/ You on every station." The show's highlight came toward the end, when Hill started singing "Doo Wop (That Thing.)" The scene resembled the one from her video, with people dancing in the street as her soulfully pure voice rang into the night air. The band then eased into the beat from Amerie's "1 Thing" before bringing it back to "Doo Wop." If you still can't believe the Fugees are back together, you'd better get used to it. The group is in the studio now working on a new album slated for release later this year source: www.mtv.com/news/articles/1523879/02072006/fugees.jhtml?headlines=true

Fugees Go to La La LandReunited trio answer naysayers with seventy-five-minute setIt's been ten years since the Fugees dominated the charts with their groundbreaking blend of socially conscious rap, R&B and reggae, The Score. But in the world of pop music -- particularly hip-hop -- a decade might as well be a millennium, so when word came last year that Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras were reuniting, one had to wonder if today's music fans would care. The trio's first comeback single, "Take It Easy," has seen limited success, but last night at Los Angeles' famed intersection of Hollywood and Vine, the group proved -- at least for one night -- that hell, yeah, the Fugees still matter. Performing in front of 8,000 fevered fans in a free outdoor show put on by Verizon Wireless to kick off Grammy week, the mysterious trio wound back the clock. "Can you believe it, we in Hollywood?" said Jean, who served as host for most of the seventy-five-minute set. "This is history!" Frequently stopping and restarting songs, the Fugees were more than a bit rusty, and, for the frontman of a reunited group, Jean sure spent a lot of time onstage alone. But they made up for their shortcomings with enthusiasm, and with a commodity too often missing from pop music: something to say. During Jean's solo single, "911," the MC drew a loud ovation when he shouted, "Bush don't care about Iraq, he care about the oil!" And during "Take It Easy," he again name-checked the president: "George Bush, you better take it easy." During an impassioned monologue, Hill addressed many of the rumors that surrounded her lengthy absence from the music scene. "I'm a black woman who's super-smart, can't be bought, can't be bribed," she said, eliciting wild roars from the audience. "If that's the definition of crazy, then I'm craaazy." The Fugees mixed old and new songs, emphasizing the reggae vibe that's often distinguished their songs from the rest of the hip-hop world, as well as material from their individual projects. Predictably, group favorites like "Killing Me Softly With His Song," "Ready or Not" and "Fu-Gee-La" evoked the loudest response. Other standouts included Pras' solo hit "Ghetto Supastar," a cover of Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry" and Jean's "We Trying to Stay Alive." Just by taking the stage the Fugees proved many naysayers wrong, but does this high-profile outing mean that the reunion album will see the light of day soon? Late in the set, Jean offered only these promising words, "As we proceed, we are the Fugees."
