p.s @ Mountzion - Did you meet her? Spill the beans! What was it like? I'm dying to hear your report! Love! x OMG YES! Sorry I had to come back down to Earth after that epic night to my crazy work schedule. I have a family (where I am, allegedly, a parent-ha ha), and..enough excuses: The show was AWESOME. Best I've seen her in years and in some ways better than ever. Ms. Hill was gettin down like those tickets cost $85 and up! Cuz they did! LOL She did kick those heels off early and we could tell we were in for it as an audience! The ser list was the same, but the energy was different. There was a great desl of intensity and focus. She seemed determined. I'll spare you all another review, and just try to add on: they left out where at the end of "Everything is Everyrhing" she ad libbed "they can lock me up, but they can't stop me" Needless to say that sentiment was not lost on this crowd. Just imagine a room full of people like the ones on this board! The crowd was great. Receptive and appreciative. Her kids are ADORABLE. I would steal Sara if I didn't have 1 of those already! She is super funny. She came stomping out after everyone was already on stage and insisted on having the mic...which at one point she was trying to wrestle out if her brother Joshua's hands! Then, when she finally got the mic, she refused to repeat after Lauryn and started making some crazy frog sounding noise into the mic. The crowd had a good laugh. Joshua was so sleepy he was rapping extra slow. He's the girst rapper I've ever seen rub his eyes sleepily on stage, lol. Lauryn explained the other 2 boys were cousins. One of them rhymed pretty well too! Highlight of the show for me was Lauryn saying she was going to compile unreleased material! After seeing NS live, 2 things: 1-the beat sounds remarkably better live 2-Lauryn is a rapping a**! She kept up amazingly with the drummer (who, as I explained on FB admitted he sped up). I woulds tapped out by the fourth line!

Again, great, great show. I still want to murder her sound engineer. I can hear she is too low from the audience! IF YOU ARE READING THIS SOUND PERSON I HATE YOU. My only criticism of the show is that she had to ask to have her mic turned up. A lot.
I had a VIP ticket which allowed you into the meet and greet after the show...1 that nearly didn't get honored! But I drove 2 1/2 hours to get to Brooklyn so I was standing in front of the elevator out of the top floor where the gathering with Ms. Hill took place. She talked with every single person who waited-for quite a while. There weren't that many people (<60), but the session lasted from about 1:30 to 3:30 am but when you are waiting to talk to Lauryn Hill...everyone else is taking too long! So I managed to fail to get the purple pass security was asking for and almost got booted from the floor so I had to wait outside the velvet rope to talk to her! Long story I am too lazy to tell right now! I ended up being the very last person to talk to her! I was nervous and trying to think what I could say to her at 3 am when she and I were likely both ready to go home and lay down! I had a whole "thing" I was gonna say, but I went rogue at the last minute. I just said what was on my heart. She was little and not very intimidating up close. Her energy was peaceful, and I relaxed almost as soon as she turned toward me. I was glad too, cuz I wasn't tryna look like a nut! I told her I was glad she didn't try to leave cuz I drove 2 1/2 hrs to see her! She responded by laugjing and saying she didn't want any problems! I asked her if I could get a picture cuz I lost every autograph I've ever gotten. She took pics with everyone , but I thanked her for being a soldier and not a coward like so many others. We talk a good game, but not many are willing to even be uncool...much less be ostracized in the name of what's right. I told her that there are many who love and support her; that we understand where she's coming from. She looked humbly at the floor and then back at me and gave me a big, long hug. If I hadn't been so tired, that moment might have made me tear up, but nah, lol! I told her a little about my family and we talked briefly about being women in male dominated fields. I gave her my business card and let her know I am a half hr from Philly where she has been recording. Yes, shameless self promoter. Damn right. Though I might pass out if she calls, lol! I thanked her for her time and encouragement, and she promised an album much sooner rather than later, but said she could not meet my June 20th requested date (I told her I NEEDED it by my birthday!). Took my pic and we said goodnight and God bless! I hope that was in order cuz I am hella sleep right now! I am sure I left things out like my ? about NS, but it'll come to me, lol

Glad I didn't ramble too much! Aside from my "slave job" I am a barber! I cut mostly men's hair, so there aren't a lot of females in my trade. I love it though. I take a great deal of pride in my craft, particularly because my maternal Grandfather was very successful at it for over 30 years. And I offered my services for her sons, not her. I wasn't tryna get laid out! LOL!

www.google.fr/url?q=http://worldswagg.com/lauryn-hill-surprise-show-in-brooklyn-photos-recap/&ust=1368653949496433&usg=AFQjCNE7UEkqr32UVMt2pTYM72TeHTho9A..The dissonance peaked with the first performance of new material the song “Black Rage” (also the title of her forthcoming Lauryn Hill tour with Nas) which feels more like offbeat spoken word than melody–but 2/3 through the song, something pretty amazing happened. Repeating and riffing on the phrases of her tone poem–which included “Black Rage takes many forms”; “I remember the whips and the dog bites” became “I remember, so I don’t fear / I don’t fear when they come tp take me away…” As the band quieted the backing track at Ms. Hill’s direction the tone poem became “I don’t fear when they come to take me away / I don’t fear when they come to take me to jail…” The crowd exploded in emotion and solidarity and for a few virtuosic seconds Lauryn embodied everything that the crowd had been wanting to project on her; the power of art, the fearlessness in the face of oppression and a deeper perspective on where those things fit into the big picture of life. I think it is a live part of Black Rage i Hope a full version
