"We're living in a joke time, metaphorical coke time commerce and girl men, run the whole world men"
"Quick scam and drag queens, real life's been blasphemed"
"Serial criminals dressed in variety, social transvestism, subliminal dressed up as piety"
This is all very interesting being that homosexuality is not labeled as a pathology; ie a mental disorder. Why feel the need to criticize something you obviously don't understand. Take a look at Selah instagram where she is obviously an egocentric child taking photos of her latest accessories from D&G, Gucci, and Versace which she claims are gifts from her mother. I wonder has she yet to call her daughter a narcissist. Complaining about this capitalist society yet enjoying the luxuries they provide to you.

True story tho, stop dissing a child to make your point. Selah's actually a human being, you know. Maybe Ms. Hill's complaining about the entirety of Neurotic Society, but it's not like it's mentally healthier for Selah to turn Amish and refuse society altogether lol Ms. Hill just saying society itself is problematic. i just think it's inconsiderate to disrespect a kid as a way to discredit the mother's statement. if Barack Obama bombs some country do you pick on his daughters for using the common expression"that song's the bomb!" or whatever? no and tho yes those statements appear homophobic, only the one saying "drag queens" appears to hold weight as far as actually being offensive. social transvestism could relate to interchanging male & female roles in society and girl men just could refer to the men calling for wars etc. being soft type men who can't fight their own battles but will send your sons to die. but the drag queen mention did seem homophobic, but it's still not called for to bring a living teenager into this debate who has nothing to do with her mom's songwriting sessions i'm pretty sure. when Selah write a homophobic song, then dis Selah.

Is she not using "drag queens" and those lines as a metaphor for the dual nature of many of the people in society, and how they're sort of dressing up their actions as acceptable? Social transvestism being that people that make up society are changing themselves to fit a certain standard. In the context and way they're used, I don't believe they're going after actual drag queen or transvestites. That was my interpretation.

well, if the lyric is: "Quick scam and drag queens, real life's been blasphemed" then i can see where maybe gays would be offended; if the line is other, then i retract my statement.
but other than that line, the other referred to lines of Oprah i believe have an explanation.
even the drag queen line could be like male scammers dressing up as women to scam you.
Ms. Hill seems pretty considerate of the oppressed from my observation.

Vibe magazine actually did a piece where they were decoding her lyrics for ‘Neurotic Society’ and concluded the same thing: 3. “Social transvestisms, subliminal dressed up as piety”
Playing on the term for someone who cross-dresses and enjoys swapping the usual traits of the opposite sex, Lauryn calls society yet another illustration of this flipping. With people and ideas frequently changing meaning, labeling the bad as good, it is nearly impossible to find true values still alive and clear. “Dressed up” as goodness, the morals on shows, in music, and in everyday life act like wolves in sheep’s clothing, trapping us in evil before we even realize how wrong we are. www.vibe.com/photo-gallery/rapgenius-vibe-decode-5-confusing-lines-lauryn-hills-neurotic-society-compulsory-mix/?page=4
